While I am not condoning harassment, this seems a lot like the "family stick people on the rear window of cars" issue. People eventually realized that maybe it isn't a good idea to openly advertise the fact that you have three kids and two dogs so your car is a lootbox just waiting to be broken into or a prime target for kidnapping.
