Alright, managed to mod up Gothic 3 to my liking. Higher draw distance is a must. At default max you can clearly see zones drawing before your eyes. It bothered me all those years ago and it still would now. But luckily now it's gone.
Now the question is, should I actually play it? I played it back when it first came out and even as a kid I could tell it was several levels below G1 and G2.
It's pretty shit, eh I do find it funny how you need comptures of today to run a 2006 game properly
Benjamin Ortiz
>should I play a game I just spent hours modding this is a terrible premise for a thread
Jayden Nelson
It took five minutes, I just installed three fanpatches in order and copied a premade ini file with the draw distance setting.
Leo Moore
Single good things about g3 is graphic, world scale and music. Its fun to fuck around but nothing more.
Jordan Price
>hours nigga it's all retard proofed at this point
Jeremiah Rivera
>nigga
Nathan Morgan
Sorry, Nigger with hard R as a proper insult
Carter White
Gothic 3 is unsalvageable You can fix bugs and improve graphics but core gameplay is just not fun Archolos is real Gothic 3, I consider it more canon than 3
I dunno, are random quests from the Content mod actually good?
Brody Morris
they are alright mostly more of the same stuff BUT it also changes a bunch of things like how the armor or orcs look and even adds a bunch new armor in the game
Josiah Long
Alright, I'll keep that in mind.
For reference, I went with Community Patch Upgrade Pack for Community Patch Parallel Universe Patch + the INI
and this was enough as far as stability goes.

>unironically playing G3 Zoomer tier
Ryder Gray
Already played it AND Forsaken Gods Even worse i'm playing ArcaniA now
the guy has the combability mod in his yt vid description for all those mods that you can't find anywhere else so he's based for making my G3 experience enjoyable
>I consider it more canon than 3 what 3 xardas ending literally sets up risen universe
Eli Cook
I'm morbidly curious about Morrowind.
Elijah Martinez
The first couple hours are ok, it's basically a long journey through a bunch of cities you never return to. I always ran out of steam in the northern part cause it's just endless canyons full of a gazillion orcs.
Christian Ross
Imagine Gothic with cardboard cutouts NPC that all dumb identical wikipedia pages on you, a larger but empty world full of copy and pasted enemies, level scaling, horrible combat, broken economy and a "you are the hero" story, that is Morrowind.
Levi Young
Damn, perhaps my rare untouched status is worth more than that.
Benjamin Jackson
>Now the question is, should I actually play it? I played it back when it first came out and even as a kid I could tell it was several levels below G1 and G2. Yes. Just lower your expectations because it's got a lot of problems and isn't anywhere near as good as G1 and G2
Jace Taylor
one of the best deserts in videogames by the way
Jacob Wood
Deserts are based.
Blade and Soul had a really nice one too.
Caleb Carter
Trust me you are not missing anything, ironically Oblivion and Skyrim are somehow even worse. With all the patches Gothic 3 is a good experience but as a Gothic fan it still feels like an old wound that will never stop hurting, bought that piece of crap on day one and it barely run on my PC and the bugs were awful youtube.com/watch?v=4ST_ON9Xm7Q

Disable postprocessing, it looks better without it.
Hunter Allen
Also while we're at it, what's the local opinion about The Returning for G2?
Some guy here was really, really butthurt about it, saying it was unbalanced and broken as fuck, never played it myself so i dunno.
Alexander Williams
I played 3 right after finishing the other two first. The mmo fetch quests made it rather boring, but the dogshit melee combat revolving around either stunlocking or being stunlocked is the worst. It gets too repetitive too quickly, which is bad due to game's enormous size. I tried to complete it a couple of times but gave up soon after leaving myrtana
Nathaniel Rogers
>With all the patches Gothic 3 is a good experience but as a Gothic fan it still feels like an old wound that will never stop hurting, bought that piece of crap on day one and it barely run on my PC and the bugs were awful Yeah. I played a lot of games which were broken on release (looking at VtM:B--completely unfinishable on day 1) but G3 was sad. Even after using the patches, I still hated aspects like the combat and your companion just randomly backstepping and no-clipping into the ether and then returning 5 minutes later, even if you save/reload
Justin Jackson
Yeah, I've been hearing similar things.
Ayden Rivera
>i'm playing ArcaniA now based coprophilia enjoyer
