how's everyone enjoying their steamdecks? i am still using the stock steamOS 3.0 and i got the hang of it. the terminal can still suck my dick and getting decomps FOR linux is something i'm not even going to attempt to do because i don't have a nasa engineering degree, ill just use the windows versions wit proton but i've been playing alot of psp, switch and ps3 games on it with it's respective emulators.
almost 3 hours on full battery for ps3 and switch and over 6 on psp upscaled. feels good man.
proton is very hit or miss right now but i hope it gets better. if you have yours, how are you enjoying it and what are you playing on it?
I think the steamdeck is pretty fucking good for the price. yeah, proton isn't the best but it is impressive. i just chalk it down to valve being too cheap to use windows.
Hunter Green
i can play a bunch of RPGM games on my steamdeck but the SEQUEL games require the RPGM RTP for RPGM VX Ace
i downloaded the RTP and tried to install it to the default location (using proton), and then tried installing it directly into one of the SEQUEL (blight) game folders, but it still isn't seeing the RTP files
how many months has this been out? i recently tried too play a random japanese indie megaman clone and proton doesn't render the SPRITES.
wtf is up with this piece of shit? I know you can report shit on the github but if proton isn't ready for primetime, i wouldn't even released the deck until it was.
Ethan Gomez
I just now noticed how fucking hot this thing gets. Dark Souls 2 is running at 90 Celsius on the CPU. Even with the updated fan controls turned off, it barely makes a difference.
Jaxon Powell
i seriously hope you didn't install powertools and are using the CPU boost
Hudson Jackson
high settings or low?
that's ryujinx levels of temps.
Anthony Cruz
All I did was install Proton-GE, and I'm obviously not using that for DaS 2. I'll keep monitoring it for anything above 90, but man like I said this thing gets toasty.
Brayden Lee
try low settings to medium or a mix. also try valve's proton
Levi Garcia
Cry more, bitch.
Angel Russell
i've been enjoying it. Ran emu deck finally and that's been fun. Spider man runs great aside from only getting 1.5-2 hours of battery. I love it, only complaint is how hot it can get sometimes in more demanding titles.
Jonathan Adams
my order finally was ready last week and I just cancelled
Don't really need it and It'd just be for playing total war in bed with I don't really need to do I'll keep the $550 or whatever it was. After waiting 9 months I jsut dont care anymore.
Lincoln White
look up a command for coping in the terminal.
Leo Hughes
>a random japanese indie megaman clone Why don't you just post the title instead of all those words? Actually if it's Japanese then the title is probably even longer. lol
Nathan Adams
Hey bros, any suggestions as to how I might be able to get a classic VN called Galaxy Angel working?
I went back and changed everything to medium, and the GPU hovers at 70c, while the CPU fluctuates between 70-80. I'll deal with it. I just don't want this thing burning itself up in less than a year.
just got mine today, enjoying the hell out of hotline miami and rivals of aether, but I haven’t been able to enjoy shooters yet. Sticks are obviously horrible for fps, and i haven't gotten the hang out the trackpads yet. any advice for me to use them properly?
Lincoln Butler
I'm loving mine. It's so damn comfortable to hold. I'm replaying P4G on it and having an absolute blast. Next is either Catherine, Cult of the Lamb, or MMBN3
Juan Campbell
it does get hot but it's not blistering hot. rjujinx runs up to 90 degrees but barely goes over. other emulators like rpcs3 runs in the 70's. ppsspp is pretty fine tho.
the way i see it, as long as the temps don't hit 105 degrees (the highest it can go before shutting down) I don't think it's much of an issue.
Xavier Sanders
tried emulating that game on switch and it runs like shit so i wouldnt be surprised if the pc version is just as bad
Logan Brown
Yeah, so far after continuing on with DaS 2, the temps are stable, and the most important thing is the CPU not creeping past 90c.
I just gotta temper my expectations a bit. I'm so used to having low temps on PC, but obviously the Steam Deck isn't all there in terms of cooling. 70-80c seems just fine all things considered.
Hunter Long
Modded New Vegas baybeeeeeee. Been having a great fucking time with it.
Hunter Jenkins
There's also a frame rate limiter in the Deck settings. If you're running it at 60 FPS and you don't mind dropping it to 30, that would probably make a significant impact on temperature and battery life. Just for the power savings, I've been limiting frame rate to 30 in slower-paced games where 60 doesn't look any better.
Josiah Cook
40fps is a really good sweet spot.
Adrian Clark
Just got mine and I'm trying to get PCSX2 running on Emudeck, says it can't find the BIOS files.
