No
>Show your work.
Fuck you

Yes.
>creator wants a way to present a simplified Dragon Warrior
>invents the action-adventure genre, a spinoff of the RPGs he wishes to casualize

>RPG
>Role Playing Game
>you play the role of Zelda in a video game
are you stupid OP?

>Simplified Dragon Warrior

Zelda 1 came out before Dragon Quest. Its inspiration would be more likely to come from Namco's Tower of Druaga just like Super Mario Bros was Miyamoto's take on Pac-Land.

Hell those fuckers straight up took the Wizzrobe enemy from that game.

Its an RPG in the sense that you play the role of link and gain weapons and health/magic upgrades as you continue your questjust like dark souls

JRPG's have stat advancements

The Darknuts are also based on the knight enemies from Druaga where you need to attack them from a specific side not covered by their shield

It's a Metroidvania.

You 'avin a giggle, mate?

he's right though, it's top down perspective but it's metroidvania gameplay

a link to the past is a puzzle and exploration game for retards with bad combat mechanics
i dropped it when i was a kid and i find it hard to play for the same reasons now

play secret of mana for better combat
play lufia 2 for better rpg elements
play a point and click adventure for better puzzles

song of storms is cool though

you play the role of zelda
ergo it's a role playing game

>no exp or levels
No.

Cryptic secrets required to progress is also from Druaga

> dungeons were called"levels" in the first game
> second game had exp and a world map

In call of duty you play the role of a soldier, CoD is an RPG confirmed

Zelda 2 is the only one that's an RPG.

Video games genres are stupid because of how nebulous and overlapping they are.

It's only an RPG if it seeks to give you a table top like experience similar to DND. Zelda has always been an adventure game with some RPG elements.

"Role playing game" Is the worst name for a genre ever conceived, prove me wrong.

>rpg
>number go up game

no zelda is not an rpg

/thread

Also fuck any semantics retards who say anything about how "playing a role" makes it an RPG.
