Give AI a vague description in the line of "portrait of undead noble"

>Outputs this

If nothing else, these art AIs will be a great tool for making original portraits for CRPGs.

Eyes look too weird. I get he's an undead but it's a combination of gross and silly I'm not down with.

sovlless

You telling me a machine did this? From scratch?

this would literally cost $250 if commisioned to be painted by an artist

Don't these AI's borrow from various images on the internet?

yes

It also wouldn't look like a fucking mess

>implying this is possible without mountains of data processing
Yeah, from scratch, like you said

okay, which AI?

all these "AI's" are doing is memorizing millions of images and then drawing something based on what they have already seen
the whole concept of deep learning machine algorithms being an actual artificial intelligence is a joke

All these AI generated pics look completely cold and soulless.
Guess why? BECAUSE MACHINES DON'T HAVE SOULS.

by stealing art and mashing it together yes from scratch

No, they have been trained (and continue to learn) on a cubic shitton of existing artwork, but they do not actually wholesale use any of it unless specifically instructed to do so.

Think of it more like them having the knowledge of the techniques used in existing artwork.

they are still shit but thats a completely reddit opinion of why

If nothing else, all this AI hype has tought me that basic pattern recognition is an exceptionally rare ability in normies.

looking at images that are already on the internet for free isnt stealing
its the same thing as looking through google images for inspiration only a computer can do it a million times faster

Midjourney

This is "Cyberpunk ID card with a portrait"

He's got the basic problem, he just shat his pants halfway through.
The one thing that AI can not do is bring vision to paper. That may sound esotheric, but it's rooted int he simple fact that AI generation is nothing but percentages and equations. An AI is a collection of algorythms that can become very efficient and "good" at doing one specific thing, but they don't think the way humans do. They can't grasp, form or understand concepts, which i think is pretty damn vital for actual art. It doesn't think at all, just emulates from sample data.

you gonna tell me this doesn't look oviously machine-fromed to you?

>Don't be a jerk.
>Don't use our tools to make images that could inflame, upset, or cause drama. That includes gore and adult content.
>Be respectful to other people and the team.
Welp, that makes the AI basically unusable.

And you'll end up with a library of portraits that all have gloopy, undefined eyes and other poorly defined finer details. Besides, I'm not sure what's so original or memorable about picrel. You won't remember it 5 seconds after closing the thread.
You also can't create a new universe with the AI because all it can do is copy and cobble together. It has no imagination, no will, obviously.

it's not the same, when artists take an existing picture and use photoshop to create a new picture they are expected to give credit to the original picture, or at least pay for it if it was a texture or something. The AI is not simply "looking" at images, it's taking the images and using them directly, it's the equivalent of a human taking a bunch of artworks from other artists, photobashing them toguether, and then expect you to pay for that shit.
If I was an artist, the same way I don't give permission to another human to take my artwork and paste it into his artwork, I don't give permission to a company to use my artwork in the same way.

It looks nice at a glance but most of the fine details are completely fucked up.

You do realize that we have come from barely recognizable doodles to this in the span of a few years, right? Give this technology a few more years, a decade max, and it will be producing fine art with plain language prompts.

Sure, and you won't able to make porn with it, because of word filters.

Ive been using it to generate portraits for pathfinder recently, I prefer DallE-2's face generation but midjourney does ok

So? Porn is plebeian shit that will be produced en masse anyway.
