Why do some people, primarily the playerbase itself, believe World of Warcraft to be an inherently difficult video game or that it possesses difficult mechanics?

i don't think anyone really believes that

Thanks for the bump.

uinrionically the only difficult part of wow is getting into groups because everyone lives or dies by the meta, the actual content is faceroll, you circumvent all of the game's difficulty if you have a group already

sounds like schizo babbling. you a ff14 doofus just stirring shit up?

>the actual content is faceroll
I agree but I have faced too much difficulty in trying to explain this to others. I believe it comes from some fanboyism and lack of exposure to other video games.
>schizo
Thanks for the bump, 2016+ newfag. XIV is shit too and worse mechanically than WoW.

it's the hardest game out there... because it actually requires real skills

leadership and organization

np i actually want to see the reasoning people have for this

Vague metrics not applicable to the gameplay itself.

You're looking at it from the perspective of someone that has played the same game for a decade+ and knows every little intricacy and obscure mechanic.

>World of Warcraft to be an inherently difficult video game
A guild with 12 hour/week raid schedule will take few months to clear the latest raid on hardest difficulty.

nobody here disagrees. who are you arguing with?

>gearcheck grinding and "don't stand in bad" for 99% of the game

I've played it for a long time but I don't know every little obscure mechanic. That said, the dungeon/raid mechanics are not difficult in of themselves. All you're ever doing in a fight is running around, avoid bad areas to stand in and sometimes standing in good areas, maybe clicking on an item/object or switching between multiple enemies to fight. The most mediocre platformer in existence is more difficult than WoW.
Most raids are cleared the day they release, if not within the week, even now when raids are stuffed with extra shit to deal with and last 10-15 minutes per fight.
That being said, having to pay active attention when running around the area you're fighting in and avoiding bad areas for 10-15 minutes does not make a fight hard.

It's not inherently difficult but it has gotten more difficult in the years since it launched, while ironically being more accessible. The current raid tier has some mechanics that if one person fails the entire encounter is almost impossible to recover.

This is the only cool WoW related image to come out in like a decade. Its a perfect representation of the various forms of magic in Warcraft except that stupid faggot Naaru shit ruins it.

fpbp

the whole point of WoW being massively successful was that it wasnt difficult

>somebody lags or blizzard server does funny things
>congratulatiosn you just wasted the last 10 minutes and consumables of others 29 players!
what a good system

Well obviously something is making it hard, since it DOES take some time for even the most skilled guilds to clear Mythic, and most players find that level beyond them entirely

most people can't perform the game's mechanics
on retail
I mean, not that I'm perfect, sometimes I'll get hit by something that deals like 30% of my hp in damage

on classic they're so piss-easy that almost everyone can do them, in that case I guess people maybe just fall asleep because it's so boring

It's usually fucking up one mechanic, but that too. That's why this tier is not as popular as previous tiers. Some specs are kinda fucked right now, requiring more skill than others for less damage output.

>Most raids are cleared the day they release, if not within the week
that hasn't happened for years, last few world first races lasted several weeks. The most recent one was like 4 weeks long. 3 tiers back, the raid was cleared after 8 days, so longer than a week and not "within the week", and that was considered a joke easy tier.
It's simply an extremely time consuming thing even for the people who play the game 24/7

The last raid was genuinely difficult, I think it was the most nerfed raid in the history of WoW
M+ is also difficult if you try to go for absurd key numbers, but that is kinda cheating considering it scales infinitely
