SMT 4 and Strange Journey are both great games, can't go wrong with either one.
I've never played Soul Hackers unfortunately. I'll say I've heard mixed things about it however.
I feel like I'm loving the look of the vibe from what little I've seen of soul hackers. I've purposely not watched reviews or anything other than a few short trailers for it, so I don't even really know how it plays.
I'm looking forward to going through all the 3ds SMT games eventually.
It's pretty short and not very difficult overall.
Nemissa gets different skills based on how you describe Hitomi sexy is the strongest option
The MC doesn't learn magic, so for most of the game he'll be a vending machine for Nemissa and any demons you have
Speaking of demons, keeping them in your summoned control drains a currency, so ideally you explore dungeons with as few active members as possible before summoning for boss battles.
You get a pet demon which takes on different forms through a system not many people actually bother to learn, it's hard to explain
cool thanks sounds good. I'm pretty much sold to play this after I finish Xenoblade. it's good to hear it's pretty short. I was hoping it wouldn't be too long.
It does have a much more difficult post-game dungeon and someone meets a different fate if you finish NG+, but just the one run for the story shouldn't take more than 20 hours.
The only negative thing I personally have to say about Soul Hackers is some of the best gear is locked behind playing Poker until your fingers fall off.
Its a lot of fun, very easy but it has a nice vibe for a dungeon crawler. SMT IV is very similar to Soul Hackers, very easy but it has a nice atmosphere, Strange Journey is super good though, the best of those three games.
Soul hackers is alright. It has a system called demon loyalty and demon personalities where until you've used the demon for long enough they basically refuse to follow your orders and will do what they want instead, dictated by their personality. While it makes sense from a world building perspective I don't think it's a very enjoyable system to play around, and I dropped the game a few hours in because of it. I think the 3ds port has ingame cheats to disable the loyalty mechanic however.
How well does the 3DS version of Soul Hackers emulate? I can't imagine it's very intensive but I'm completely blind on the state of 3DS emulation.
if you like Hackers (movie) you'll love this, heavy 90's cybercool hacker aesthetic, some really nice lowpoly enviroments to explore and a nice synthy soundtrack
You end up rolling in so much booze you can just buy the loyalty of your favourites easily
The last game to have a six man party or human(kind of) companions, I miss it.
I tried getting a copy right after SH2 announced and the 3DS is going for 100+ bucks now
What is the best way to get into the mainline series. Atlus really need to maoe a collection for pc. Do they hate money?
>The MC doesn't learn magic
Do you get anything at all from levelling INT?
It has my favorite demon conversation system, and I really love that sometimes demons will remember conversations you had the next time you encounter them.
Shame this guy lasted so little, I dig his style
I think it reduces magic damage taken, but don't quote me on it
Just play Nocturne or 4 to see if you like it, and start playing whatever else from there.
You also have MC, Nemissa and Zeed that always follow orders and you can beat the game with those three, other demons are a luxury.
Reception of the remaster of the most popular mainline by far was lukewarm at best. I think people really underestimate how niche this series has always been.
It was a really lazy and greedy remaster. Textures were barely touched up, they brought in easy mode DLC, the audio quality is still garbage with terrible mixing, you have to pay to reskin Raidou into Dante.
And in a series where you're prone to instadeaths, younger people don't like having to find save rooms.
You need a few points in Int to wear the best armor I think. Just look up a stat spread for him.
Honestly, soul Hackers 1 is shit, it's better to just look up gameplay vids on YouTube
I know you know that none of those things actually matter when it comes to selling remasters to the chimps that buy them.
Persona 4 was a 1:1 port (that still had problems) and it sold 20k copies in one day with practically no advertisement.
How much does it connect to the greater SMT series?
not at all
That's just the curse of SMT really
3D Persona is a dating sim for waifufags, and gets by on its name alone because of all the girls. They don't need to try with it.
