it's fun!
How come this series never took off like Silent Hill did?
Play Fatal Frame
recently started playing 3 and rei is too sexy
poor platform selection
So does Nintendo still own the series?
Legit finished 1-3 for the first time a couple years ago on PS3. It was great, and I kinda hate myself for sleeping on them.
3 > 1 > 2.
>How come this series never took off like SH?
Probably because it was "too Japanese" for the Western (American) market at the time, people tend to have weird prejudices towards stories with real deal ghosts (m-muh scientific explanations!!), and the first game came out a bit too late, easily getting categorized as "yet another RE / SH clone" during the genre's golden days.
yes
Unlike Team Silent's SHs which kept reinventing itself by rotating the team to refresh its the amorphous concept, Tecmo's Project Zero always tried to recapture the magic of 2. The mechanic didn't take long to get stale -- you'll be expecting jumpscares and ye olde Edo ghosts in every corner. Also, no iconic monster like the Red Pyramid or Valtiel for the soulless company to milk.
>OH NO! A HOT YOUNG ASIAN GIRL WITH PERFECT SILKY BLACK HAIR!
Gonna be honest. Can someone tell me what's up with this series. Back then when I saw the box art for this game I just thought it was some shitty Wii third party shovel ware garbage and now I see all these random fags acting like it was some huge hidden gem everyone loved.
>I saw the box art for this game I just thought it was some shitty Wii third party shovel ware garbage
Are all of you faggots zoomers or what? It's as if the 3 ps2 vidyas were never a thing
It feels like there was a boom with ghost stories around the time Conjuring released tho.
I was half expecting the negro user but no monkee paw in sight
I never saw this game back in that gen, retard kun. I simply remember seeing some stores with a million copies of this game during the wii days. It looked like some gimmicky shit that no one played.
This.
Silent Hill never took off, though. SH2 flopped in Japan, and the series began a rapid decline into irrelevancy, poor sales, and rushed deadlines.
Shit list leaving out 4 and 5.
4 and 5 are both have kino as fuck settings.
4 - loli insane asylum
5 - aokigahara with a theme park
Never played either one of them yet.
I still remember when PSM gave SH2 a 7/10 (too much water) because its storyline was
>too convoluted and confusing
kek
They're somewhat correct. Silent Hill 2 is fairly typical of Japanese storytelling where it mistakes being poorly told and obtuse for being deep and well written. That's why the reviews of the PC version in 2003 were so much harsher, calling it underwhelming and not scary. Silent Hill 2 was very much a "you had to be there" kind of thing. Which is going to make Bloober's remake interesting.
>poorly told and obtuse
nope
>RE:CV and fucking Extermination over SH2
>DMC even on the list
>"slow techno-like music"
>"even after I completed the game, I still couldn't definitely determine what the hell was going on"
>"it's like a poorly written novel"
Truly some peak Dudebro material of early Y2K days.
Silent Hill 2 does not have a well told story, user. You were just impressed by it because you were a teenager when you played it. It's like the Metal Gear Solid 2 of horror games.
>Unlike Team Silent's SHs which kept reinventing itself by rotating the team to refresh its the amorphous concept
Yeah because that worked so well, right?
>Extermination
an early action b-movie horror that I totally forgot about. it was fun; it's all about that rifle
It led to movies and it had more vidyas than project zero up until konami decided to focus on pachinko. so yeah it worked better than project zero
I was a teenager when I played both. MGS2 is retarded and SH2 isnt -- had read C&P and watched jacobs ladder before it, and although I has seen some lynch flicks I still hadnt seen lost highway
