Games sometimes get delisted and taken down because of devs and publishers, not because of Valve.

If a Steam game gets delisted everyone who bought it still has access to it. Steam games getting deleted from accounts altogether is extremely rare.

i've made almost all my game purchases via steam (exceptions being switch exclusives) simply because i know in a few years I may not have access to anything I buy on switch.

The handful of games I had on my WiiU and 3DS went with those consoles when I sold them years ago, and I haven't had the urge to rebuy their switch incarnations.

I bought the Miss Kobayashi game on switch, but every other fighter/shmup I just wait for steam releases. Cotton Rock n Roll, for example, I've been playing at the arcade while I wait for the steam release, instead of buying for switch. For me, I want to be able to play the games in the future on new hardware.

Think before you post user, taking the server down and taking games away are two completely different things.
With the server down your access to the games won't be revoked and you'll still be able to play the ones you have.
With revoked access then you won't even be able to do that and you implied that was what's happening here.
