Strong enemies are immune to debuffs

>strong enemies are immune to debuffs
>weak enemies die in one hit and don't need debuffs to kill

Why do debuffs exist in JRPG's?

>I can't become Aqua and have sex with them
Why do Aquaposters exist on Any Forums?

>instant kill works on enemies that die in one hit
>doesn't work on bosses or strong enemies
>enemy's instant kill mechanics work on you though

This is why (outside a couple exceptions) turn-based RPGs are shit. You're better off just mashing attack or spamming your strongest skills, and at that point you'd be better off just playing an action RPG since there'd be at least a little bit of skill involved.

Invest in buffs, not on debuffs.

This applies to all RPG's in general. Strategy never matters. Those 100's of skills and stats and builds you can make? Just put all points into damage and use strongest move. Applies to all JRPG's, RPG's, everything. It's because most of their sales come from retards.

>trannysuba poster
>i can't debuff their existance

>Play Dragon Quest 2
>Death spells consistently work on any dragon type enemies, which are all incredibly strong with strong AOE damage
>Debuffs actually make a difference
>Status spells regularly work on the enemy types that it would be most logical/effective to work on e.g. Confusion and Blind spells work on warrior types.
>Get to last boss
>He looks like a mage
>Cast silence
>It works
>It stays there for the rest of the first form.

in Persona, debuffs are done okay. it works on all enemies. my real issue in JRPGs are status effects. they usually have shit accuracy to balance them and they only last a couple turns. you're almost always better off attacking normally than bothering with them. Bosses are usually immune to them all so there's no point in investing in them.

except the one strong enemy that is weak to blind but you have no way of knowing
you weren't trying every status effect on every enemy??? BAKA!!

Debuffs exist for the one or two bosses who can be afflicted by them. Usually these bosses are poorly balanced so the devs decided “hey just make him weak to confusion and poison lmao”

7th Dragon

for the average enemies you fucking retard.

Atlus games in general handle debuffs pretty well, especially Etrian Odyssey.

WHERE THE FUCK IS EO3U

Status Effects in RPGs are balanced around the idea that enemies will use them against you, not that you will use it versus them.

Because like all things, the gooks copied them from White people games without understanding them.

the two recent south park games
etrian odyssey
final fantasy 5

>play any souls game
>tons of weapons with status like poison, bleed, etc
>its all fucking useless
>just use weapons with magic or element that kill things faster
