stick to souls likes if that's what your after, hack n slash games are about speed and combo chains there can be some degree of difficulty to them but never so much that it goes against the core mechanics.

even in ng one on master ninja you won't get one shoted, its about evasion and knowing when to combo. in truth I would argue the real difficulty comes from the camera.

at this point I feel like mikami could realistically get a sequel greenlit if he wanted to, the ign backlash has become such a meme at this point that it would probably sell to casuals on that premise alone

dude I predominantly play noting but 5th and 6th gen games, the camera in ng1 is a major issue.

Bayonetta does have aggressive enemies, yes. Did you forget about Joy, Grace & Glory/Gracious and Glorious, and Ardor? Affinity is also fairly aggressive, considering they're the most common enemy in the game.

Although, from the sounds of it, you only played it on Normal, not NSIC, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Not him, but DMC is entirely about styling hard on enemies that are just there for you to beat up. Definitely not a prime pick if you want to get punished.
