Something something security hazard. It's still possible to make some but you're gonna work with an abandoned program and unless the site has support for it like Newgrounds, people are gonna play it offline/downloaded.
It's a shame flash has to die, think of the things you could have done with flash decompilers. Wish it could be revived in someway while still using the swf format.
Closest thing we have is Ruffles but it's more like a projector rather than a proper flash program and stuff.

Real answer: Flash is a proprietary blob put on top of the web. It was historically successful because of random luck (just like Windows), but it's basically a huge proprietary black box on top of well understood protocols. When you play a flash game, you're loading a web page that is giving you a big binary stuff, and then the flash plug-in tells your browser "I've got this".
Browser devs hate this. Web devs hate this. Security is abysmal. It's like having a nigger living in your house, and sometimes getting into your basement, telling you he "got this". While you're hearing a girl crying her heart out from your basement. But not problem, bro, he "got" this.
HTML 5 was built, born, and pushed because we don't want the nigger doing god know what in our basement, and probably raping a little girl, going by the sound alone. The nigger didn't get this. Go fuck yourself, nigger.
