I can't win with these games

Been gaming for years, I can be really good at almost any game I play (across all genres)- except the Souls games.
I played Dark souls 3 with a friend who loves the souls series and he told me to just keep playing and eventually "it will click". I got Elden Ring, put over 20 hours Into it and got maybe half way through only because I played with that same friend. If I play alone, I'll get no where. I've put the hours in. I've really tried. But it's like it's simply impossible to improve my capability at parrying/dodging/staying alive against some of these enemies.
After 20 some years of gaming I have finally found an insurmountable wall that I can't fucking get over.

Okay listen, I'm going to give you the super secret method you need to dominate these games.
Alternate your levels between Magic and HP, then spam magic at your foes. Maybe get a greatshield if you're feeling frisky.
That's it. That's everything.
If I can beat this franchise doing that exact thing while high as a kite then so can you.

you are not wrong, the game is trying pretty hard to force you to summon or co-op.

try paying attention

This is a joke right? What other games do you think are difficult, that you are "really good" at? The souls games are incredibly easy compared to other games.
>Halo CE / Halo 2 on Legendary
>The Evil Within on AKUMU
>Ninja Gaiden on Master Ninja
>Dusk on Duskmare
>Getting Over It / Jump King
>Katana Zero on Hard mode
That's off the top of my head, not even counting shit like Battletoads or those other arcade 90s games. Play those games and I guarantee you, you'll change your mind about Souls.

>Get fingerprint shield
>Lvl HP and stamina
>Use mimic summon
You can now steam roll through the whole game.

Some games just aren't for you, thats okay. I can't stand puzzle games and VNs even though I like puzzles and reading stories irl. You just have to accept when its not for you.

this honestly. Some games just aren't good fits for people. You can brute force it and "git gud" if you really put the work in, but if it's not fun or rewarding for you at the end of the day why put yourself through that?

Yeah, I don't know what it is, but rhythm games make my head explode, like Crypt of the Necrodancer was harder than every souls game combined.

Rhythm and roguelike go together like bread and butter, but you have to have a mind for roguelikes or it all falls apart.
When I say "mind for roguelikes" I mean having intuition on how the RNG is operating. Play enough roguelikes and you get a 6th sense about its parameters.

same for me. Those rhythm games with the directional inputs completely filter me. I'm pretty good at osu too, so it's literally just not being able to wrap my head around the directional arrows

>Play enough roguelikes and you get a 6th sense about its parameters.
at least with roguelikes the game typically doesn't move until you do, so you have as much time as you need to plan out your next move.

Some of the most ironically comfy moments for me are when you get into a sticky situation, get up to get yourself some tea, sit back down and have a good think about how to get out of it

I have never played a roguelike and still don't even understand what they are.

>Roguelike: ADOM, ToME, Nethack, etc.
>RogueLITE: Binding of Issac, Rogue Galaxy, Dead Cells, etc.

>This is a joke right? What other games do you think are difficult, that you are "really good" at? The souls games are incredibly easy compared to other games.
>proceeds to post games where you have difficulty sliders which is basically enemy do 10x more damage take 5x less damage
retard

>Rogue Galaxy
I meant Rogue Legacy btw

How can you be so bad bro?

"Games like Rogue" technically. As a genre its usually about internal timing governing actions, permadeath, and random generation.
The rules are rigid yet flexible, go too flexible and it becomes a "roguelite."
Its all very autistic.

Haven't played any of these and don't know what they're like.

use google

>Its all very autistic.
Best one to start with?

If you can handle ascii try Zangband, its a basic roguelike based on the lord of the rings setting.
The biggest boon for roguelikes is they are generally free.

Give it up. Your average indie, picked at random, is guaranteed to be more fun than this tryhard garbage game. It's obviously making you unhappy, so discard it and don't look back. And NO, don't buy Dark Soils IV in a couple years thinking "it will be different this time."

>The biggest boon for roguelikes is they are generally free.
Maybe the Any Forums janny was playing a roguelike while all the gay porn was being posted and not deleted.

"After 20 some years of gaming I have finally found an insurmountable wall that I can't fucking get over."

What kinda fucking games were you playing ? You did a hobby for 20 years and you still suck at basic dodging / rolling ? What the fuck ?

Desktop Dungeons is more puzzle than roguelike but its a great start for getting the basics.
Sounds like something no one on Any Forums has any reason to care about or even understand why its being referenced.

>I can't win "roll to dodge attack" games
souls games aren't difficult, you're just playing Zelda but with a maximum of 1.5 hearts
