Dragon Quest is so fucking boring all your attention goes to the music.

>every song

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. His stuff post-Last Story isn't really worth listening to - that last game's OST, Fantasian (the mobile one with the diorama backgrounds), was even full of direct inferior redos of his older FF tracks.

He was directing the team of arrangers that did the OST for the FF PR, not surprisingly the end result was amazing and dare i say it mostly superior to the originals which is rare to see in remakes/remasters.

Wrong guy. Dragon Quest music is boring.

He fell off after FFVI. Don't know if it was unfamiliarity with the PS1 soundchip but he didn't start getting decent again until FFIX then he pretty much retired after that.

Literally who?

His peak was FF8 you uncultured fuck, in fact i'd say that was the peak of videogame music period.

>His stuff post-Last Story isn't really worth listening to
Actual bullshit. Uematsu did a bunch of great compositions after The Last Story. Early Granblue Fantasy, for instance:

youtube.com/watch?v=DY1I0mjv_vw
youtube.com/watch?v=52fLP_xWX4s (this one is one of the most unapologetic "Uematsu" songs he's ever done.)

And he's even done a few for Neptunia of all things:

youtube.com/watch?v=5dAx_k-SNcI
youtube.com/watch?v=pfrjjnOLTpo
youtube.com/watch?v=GjgADKCKBKI (Kinda neat this one uses the same sample as Luminiera Omega's theme)

And that doesn't even go into the fact that he was doing the main themes for FFXIV for a little while, or hell, as shitty as FFXV was, Choosing Hope was an amazing song. Uematsu's still got it, user.

ff8 has a dogshit ost you dumbfuck dweeb. 1 ok song with a chinese woman singing doesn't change that.

6 wasn't even that great an album

Ripping off 70's prog bands.

If only videogame composers still "ripped off" those bands instead of ripping off hollywood composers maybe videogames wouldn't be dead and buried.

FF8's OST is completely forgettable and obviously phoned in.

>ripping off the greatest music to ever grace our ears
seems good to me. more composers should do it.

>his favorite composer doesn't have ten quintillion album-quality remixes

You clearly are deaf or a zoomer, what was phoned in was every Final Fantasy OST past 9 and even 9 was inferior to both 7 and 8 on the same platform.

9 had the best soundtrack in the series lol

Only memorable tracks from 8 are Triple Triad, Man with the Machine Gun, Fisherman's Horizon, and Maybe I'm a Lion. Rest is so forgettable I can't even recall them despite replaying 8 about 4-5 times back then.

>best music in a Dragon Ball Z video game came from a plagiarist

Composers should do it more often

Considering 7 and 8 and the pixel remasters of 4 and 5 (haven't heard 6 yet) exist, no you are wrong
Most of the soundtrack is memorable while the only track that i can easily recall from 9 is the world map song. Anyway it doesn't really matter, most of the OSTs Uematsu composed for that series absolutely humiliate pretty much every modern videogame soundtrack, its not even fair to compare them.

His best work.

Well yeah, his mediocre work is still leagues better than most other people's best I'll give you that.

What is your favorite composer?

You are wrong and furthermore you suck dick

>宿命の邂逅 [Encounter of Destiny]
Not Uematsu, I intentionally checked who wrote the track back when the game came out because I really liked it. The same guy also arranged the only track Uematsu did write for the game, which was the main theme.
