But I've never refunded a game I beat?
a game you can beat in under 2 hours is not worth money
make better games
How about you don't make a shitty game that is less then 2 hours and then charge money for it.
a movie you can watch in under 2 hours is not worth money
make better movies
Lol do people really?
Oh no! Steam is totally not filled with shitty indies anymore a year later!
i don't pay for movies either
These kinds of games used to be made for free as passion projects. The cost for access to Steam's marketplace is that people have access to refunds. It cuts both ways because without Steam's consumer friendly policies there wouldn't be a marketplace for these types of hands to begin with.
10 dollars for a game less than 2 hours?
Fuck that shit.
That's true though. Your Typical "102 minutes" movie is usually trash.
Yes
kneel
BASED
If the two hour game was priced at say $5 or less not only would more people play it but far less would bother with a refund.
>Paying for two hours of entertainment
I hope you don't do this user.
Why didn't they just advertise as short games the way short films categorize themselves as such?
I only watch 3-4 hour extended directors cuts, sorry
I've release a short game on Steam. Most people know what they're buying, and don't abuse the refund system.
>short form game
So basically unfinished demos sold as a "full game".
>make a short game
>charge full price
too bad
You expect a movie to give you all that content such as story, concept, characters, acting and things. You expect a video game to have more than 2 hours of gameplay. Imagine paying a board game the same price cause you got 2 hours of entertainment from it.
A movie that I am only ever going to watch one time, and never again because I didn't enjoy it much, is not worth any amount of money. The length of the movie is not relevant, its rewatchability is everything.
haven't been to a move in atleast 3 years
I have very little understanding or patience for developers who can't keep my attention for more than 1-2 hours. You're just teasing me, even if your game is good it's basically nothing, fuck off.
i have literally never refunded a game
i play them cracked beforehand, so i only buy what i know i will 100% enjoy
How can a game be less than 2 hours long
watching indie devs cry about why their shitty asset flip didn't sell is always a good time.
it happens so often now, too.
>make short game
>sell it for a low price
>no one bothers to refund because no one expects their $3 game to provide endless hours of entertainment
it's not that hard.
Sadly it won't do anything to deter pajeets and chinks shoveling out crapware onto steam.
>Make shitty short game
>Sell it for cash $$$
>People beat it in less than 2 hours
>"Nooooooooo don't refund my shitty games that takes less than 2 hours to beat aaaaahhhhhhhh"
wow then con people into your kikestarter or patreon then dump your "game/demo" out on steam
Never understand why their so insistent that THEIR game is worth attention out of the literal thousands that are out there, do they have no humility?
Can't get a refund on a game you pirate, friendo
>leftoid indie tard doesnt understand how platforms/markets work
every time.
I don't pay for 2 hours of movies, I don't even pay for subscriptions that give hundreds of hours of movies. I pirate everything because there are only a couple good shows on any service at any given time
This year it has been severance and the rehearsal
>shitty game
It's got a 91% positive review score on its store page.
>store.steampowered.com
More like Brandon Nogains
A game usually costs much more than a movie would. To me, the average price should be $5 per 1 hour of good entertainment. If I spend $60 on a video game I better be getting a solid 12 hours of entertainment from it.
But I agree, both entertainment venues should be making better products (movies or games) (or if your Sony just movies).
>Why didn't they just advertise as short games the way short films categorize themselves as such?
They did on their store page.
>Average time to complete the game: 90 minutes
If you make a game that short you should either put it up for an extremely low price (like $2 or something) or just make it free. Expecting financial success just because you made a game is honestly naive, you can't just throw whatever shit out there and become a millionaire. If you're a solo dev making games just because you want money then you should just quit, that type of attitude does not work in the independent game market.
what does this guy want? should other people not be allowed to make games?
>i worked 4 years so it has to be good and worth attention
if its less then 2 hours its shit by default I don't care what tards on steam say.
