back then being the director in jp didn't mean he's the one writing nor dealing with the protag, even when mikami was just the producer eg his "free rein" for Killer 7 meant he made Suda adapt and rewrite a lot of things bc he didn't liked them. In Silent Hill 2 for instance, Tsuboyama was the director and Owaru the writer and yet it was gigachad Takayoshi Sato -- the cgi director -- that wrote the characters, plot, themes and the female's dialogue.
