I feel like each power metal band has maybe 1 or 2 good songs and then the rest of what they make is just try hard samey songs. I think they might just be limited by the chords that constitute the power metal sound. I prefer thrash because it has a more versatile sound. Heck stoner metal does power better than power bands.
