Yes just avoid the party play oriented ones.

Ys II (with PC88 soundtrack) is the peak Ys experience

Older ones are hit or miss but all of them from VI onward are worth playing. Oath in Felghana is the best one desu.

Ys 8 is probably the best JRPG that came out since the PS2 era

fpbp
Sick and tired of those.

It's mid tier

I pirated Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana on Switch and was really surprised by how good it was. I mean, I don't even play JRPGs much but it was really good.
Likeable characters, interesting story and fun gameplay.

Looking forward to play Ys 9 some day.

such as? im gonna start with Origins so i want to know what to avoid

>Looking forward to play Ys 9 some day.
Among the worst Ys games. Weak story, weak gameplay. I shudder when I think about the time I forced myself to beat it.

Party-based games are Seven, Memories of Celceta, VIII, IX.

I stopped at Oceanos because it took forever to beat on the highest difficulty. I might go back and play at a more reasonable level

so all the good ones?

start with one

Just play them in order and judge if you hate the later party-based ones yourself.

Origins has an amazing soundtrack. As do most of the other games in the series.

The true final boss felt even worse in that regard.
What a spongy piece of shit.

i mean it's basically ys8 with slightly less good characters

Nah, just another one mediocre action jrpg

But enough about Oath.

That guy is just being a fag. The party ones are high tier.

I have played ys 1 and ys 2, surely no other game in the series has a better waifu than Lilia?
