Why do they need to disable Shin Megami Tensei?

Cuz demons can use your ryzen to open portals to the earth and shit

I don't feel so bad about buying my 5600x anymore. Think I'll be using it for a 4-5 years without seeing major performance decrease. Especially when I drop a 40xx card into it.

No but it requires a level of malware infection where it could already exploit any number of other vulnerabilities.
The main concern seems to be that it can circumvent being sandboxed in a VM which is a use case that only security researchers would actually care about.

CPUs have been backdoored since 2005

SMT stands for satisfiable modulo theory.

It requires code execution on the target machine. So they could cryptolock, keylog, dump your data too if they can do this.

good thing i did lol
my friend bought an i5 7500 and i bought an r5 1600x back in 2017 for the same price (we both have 1060s) He initially had more fps cause of higher single core performance but now i have like 50% more fps in most games while being able to have multiple programs running in the background. He has to close everything cause his cpu is at 100% in most games

You also won because you can drop-in a current generation cpu like the 5600 in your current motherboard and enjoy a massive uplift while he'll have to buy a new motherboard.

That's a good thing
