Even in TLOU1, the gameplay was poor. The thing is, that at least the story was good enough to take your mind off the fact that it mostly felt like you were just walking characters through the story, rather than playing the game. With TLOU2, the gameplay is much of the same, except now the story is a slog to get through, so there's nothing to mask the poor gameplay.

There's a little bit of this (Lev, random soldiers referring to same sex partners) but it's not that big a deal. It's certainly not something I immediately think of when I think of the game.

Not at all. Just some creatively bold ones, which is always liable to piss some people off but far preferable to a super safe sequel.
