As they fought shards of Grond and the Sporemounds broke off, and each came to life themselves and began to fight one another. From these shards broke off even smaller shards, leading to the crestion of the Gronn, the Ogres, and least of all the Orcs.
All of these beings have the instilled mental imprint to destroy vegetation, especially magic infused vegetation. The Orcs don't give a shit about the Elves besides them putting up a decent fight. The things they actually want to fuck are the trees, with fire.

This was a Horde civil war overall. Alliance are just there as spectators and same shit happened when Saurfang faced Sylvanus.

Horde lost in Battle for Undercity, MoP, and BfA but were saved by plot armor because Blizzard can't just delete an entire playable faction.

Horde does win a lot of encounters, but mostly because they've got batman levels of plot armor and even the most illogical downright idiotic actions get rewarded somehow (aka literally everything Sylvanas did as warchief)
