Nothing about this game makes any damn sense. Enough time has passed for Rex and Shulk to die and two City's worth of people to grow and reproduce but also 1000+ years of war have passed and time has stood still but obviously not cause there's still a day night cycle and time is obviously still passing like normal cause you can measure it with a clock but we're also standing still frozen in the endless now. Fuck this game.

It's not literally time stood still, but rather the world is metaphorically stagnant, in a state that will not change or progress for any of the people. Time exists, people grow, but the world is stagnant, which is a fairly standard theme in Xenoblade.

The writers wanted to have their cake and eat it too. The ending split invalidates the 1000+ years of endless war. Anyone who died? brought back with Origin. A handful of people make strong enough connections to not forget Aionios after the split and promise to somehow meet up again in the future someday. So those 1000+ years were just a giant waste of time. I don't see how the DLC could salvage this, whether it is a prequel story like Torna or an epilogue.
