Nintendo switch

How many years does this console have left? isn't splatoon 3 a game made to get updates for like at least 2 years? they also have a new pokemon game coming out and that thing is gonna have raid events like the last one

the switch is still selling a shit ton of units despite it being outdated as fuck, i see people wanting a switch pro but fuck that shit i think is time for a completely new console that is hopefully backwards compatible with switch games

I think their next project will probably be coming around 2024. As you've said, Splatoon is the kind of game that gets updates. There is also MK8D's booster course pass that's lasting until the end of 2023. Updates are rather low commitment in the grand scheme of things so they could also be getting big games in their big IPs ready.
The big question mark for me is Prime 4 & BOTW2. BOTW2 can't really be a carrot in the same way BOTW was still on the Wii U, but a Switch laucnh time for a new console if the old console is as successful as the Switch.

you have to assume that Switch 2 or whatever will be backwards compatible.

>i see people wanting a switch pro
No one but the autists in this shithole and a couple failed youtubers even talk about a switch pro.
All I see normies talk about is BotW2, new Pokemon, a new Mario, Splatoon, in other words, GAMES.

The PS2 was still selling long after the PS3. When it has games and affordable it will keep selling.

2024 will likely be when the next Switch console gets announced. Then it'll probably come out in late 2025.
Don't see them abandoning the Switch formula but Nintendo loves to do some gimmicky thing for all of their consoles, not sure what else they could do though. Maybe some sort of secondary screen this time too?

I think Nintendo will try to squeeze every last drop out of the Switch. There is no point in launching new consoles and being unable to produce them. In fact, Nintendo is apparently having trouble producing the original fucking Switch which uses technology from 2013 or so.
As long as that garbage is selling, they will put all plans for new hardware on hold.

I never understand people talking about a Switch Pro and a Switch 2 as though they're somehow two different things. The next Nintendo console is most likely going to be modeled after the Switch, and rather than console generations they're probably going to just come out with newer models like with phones. They'd be crazy to try anything else at this point.

I'm guessing this.
Switch still sells way too much to phase it out, they haven't even really cut the price yet. Chip supply is still questionable and the longer they can push it out, the more they can close the technical gap while still using old and cheap hardware.

Releasing a new console now would be stupid. They're still selling the Switch by the fuckton at an outrageously high price, so why bother? Also, there's still many problems with global supply chains, so good luck shipping million of units of a new console.

I’m so tired of the switch
Everyone proclaims it as the greatest console ever and I’m just sick of hearing about it. I have one and enjoy it but switch fanboys are insufferable.

The moment next gen consoles are freely available in stores all third party development that isnt indie will start targeting way higher specs which means switch wont get ports anymore

Thats when switch will fizzle out slowly and nintendo announces the successor.

My personal estimate is late 2023 with ps5/xbox X shortage being completely over around april 2023

Actually Nintendo doesn't have much to do, to be honest. The Switch's big problem is that it is unable to achieve 1080p, even at fucking 30 fps, for basically any 3D game. That makes it terrible for modern TVs and monitors. But even with an upgrade they still wouldn't achieve decent resolutions, the Steam Deck is an example of a much more powerful device, but one that also fails miserably at delivering image quality and performance on modern TVs and monitors.
Either they would need a dock capable of upscaling (which is far from a perfect solution), or they assume that the most important thing is to at least have an acceptable picture on a 7-inch screen. And if they decide this way, there is not much reason to upgrade the current system, at least not now.

Like 5 years.

Until some other company focuses on VIDEO GAMES then it will sell.

Don't worry, everyone. I'm certain this games as a service thing will inspire game developers to innovation.

Epin meme

Switch pro would have just been a Switch with dlss. Switch 2 should have a better SOC. Switch pro was predicted years ago and it's clear that Nintendo isn't going to do one because at this point they might as well just release Switch 2.

>2024 will likely be when the next Switch console gets announced. Then it'll probably come out in late 2025.
Seems too long od a wait. If we discard the NX stuff, the period between Switch's official announcement and release is about half a year.

Stop making shit up. Switch games look great on modern TVs. I'm sure there are few faggots that can tell, or think they can, the difference between 720p/1080p upscaled to 4k and native 4k but 99% can't.

Switch looks amazing on my S95B.

Not him but switch games are extremely aliased on my TV. You can see the jaggies from the couch. I also really hate the half framerate animations they do for distant characters because it's noticeably distracting to see 15 fps in a 30 fps fame. It's time for an upgrade because switch is a very ugly looking console now.

They will probably announce a new console next year with a 2024 release date. There's a possibility that the Switch will remain active as a hybrid console for its handheld capabilities, assuming the next home console isn't also a hybrid.

4K is an integer multiple of 720p so it's actually not a big deal at all
