I love how Dobby has completely tainted this old Nintendo Power mascot to the point where you can't help but think of him when you look at Nester. Or the DIC cartoon adaptions for that matter.

Dobson is probably the weirdest form of Nintendism that managed to get some manner of traction on the internet.
His true headcanon is based around crappy licensed tv shows during the 80s that were basically 30 minutes advertisements for Nintendo IPs.
He nitpicks about changes to characters that deviate from these cartoon portrayals, and claims that Nintendo 'cleaned up' their characters to give more widespread appeal and ruined their soul.
Also probably what he said. I think the Son of Dob has been more closely psychoanalyzed by strangers on the internet than some actual institutionalized basket case.

Not him, but same could be said for Chris. Difference is Dobson was so great at hitting the right cords of all the worst traits of retarded artists on the web and his life is just one giant train wreck that he stood out. Shame that lolcow vanished.

To be fair; those shows weren't that bad. I mean when you compare them in terms of animation quality to other shows in the 80's, DIC was definitely a higher quality.
Difference is Dobson's insane idea that they were the definitive look for the characters rather than loosely defined adaptions and how adamant he was over this is beyond bizarre.
But that's what made Dobson so great, he was so out of it and every single one of his arguments are based on a long line of mental and insecurity issues ranging back to his childhood regarding blonde haired people.

Really Dobson's case is just sort of a primer, an "obviously extreme" version of an archetype that actually rose to prominence recently. You know the type. They overwhelmingly grew up in the N64-Gamecube era, maybe the early Wii, and they believe that Nintendo has somehow become "overtaken" by anime in recent years. They grew up with an image of Nintendo colored by westerners who were given too much power, and are now adamant that their idea of Nintendo is the "real deal".

Dobson was a perfect storm of a lolcow
A man that took L's on a very frequent basis, made sure that he wore his insecurities and bad opinions on his sleeves with every post, and yet still kept coming back for more.
Nowadays, people will cut losses and vanish at the first sign of trouble. But Dobby-boy was old school. A product of his time, and there will never be another like him.
