It's short, edgy, and has lost of rape.
I'd say it's a great start.

No such thing. You either have the autism for the genre or you don't.

yeah, it should lower your standards appropriately.

They should have remade this song but we got some generic anime shit. Also mid 2000's Takuechi art is godlike, fuck nu Takuechi

Sure. Just go in blind. Half the fun is the weird edgy stuff you get in each route.

Yes is a good read.

no, it was poorly written by edgy teenagers and everyone who is big into it turns into a tranny, and I dont mean this as schizo Any Forumsshit. that is unironically just what always happens. pirate utawarerumono or something.

Honestly, go with Fate/Stay Night.

I grew out of Fate but I would recommend Fate/Stay Night and play the first route so you can get a hang on what to expect from VNs

I think the song is serviceable but I think they went overboard with the visuals. It was good in [st], clr was kind of pushing it, and then they just kept going with MBTL.

>everyone who is big into it turns into a tranny
So far I've only seen that for fans of frenchbread games, not Type Moon in general. Most Melty Blood fans are too lazy to read Tsukihime. They might have a form of autism (see Lunar, the fg player who obsesses over mesugakis and actually read the VN) but if you're looking for a VN that does make people consider trooning out it'd be Umineko.

I like it
Although some people think that steins:gate is a better entry into VN's

imagine knowing anything about a game series except for its memes and porn.

Yes. I played it in highschool on our schools shitty netbooks, I would unironically play it during classes. 10/10 VN, watch the Garden of Sinners movies too.

It was the first vn I ever read and I loved it at the time. That was years ago when I was a teenager, so I'm not sure if I would still feel the same. Either way both Arcueid and Aloha are super cute, and Shiki is a cool guy.

>Aloha
Fukcing christ whyI can't just post from my phone in bed in peace. Racist ass autocorrect doesn't recognize Japanese names. Akiha.

It's probably one of the best you can start with.
A decent length but not super long, and well known so there are plenty of people to discuss it with.

Yes. The routes are short and build off each other. It is a good blend of mystery and horror that deals with psychological aspects as well as abject terror and utter sadness. It still remains one of the most insanely engaging reads I've ever binged. I read it again a few years back and it still holds up. There is a reason people still talk about it, plus it had a pretty good fan translation even by today's standards.

>first visual novel
Pick whatever genre you want first then pick a title that suits you. Picking chunnishit/plottards/moefags's recommendations without liking the VN's central theme will only burn you out in the long run.

Very

>40 hours
>short
you should read planetarian reverie of a little planet
6 hours, voice acted (japanese)
nice story and beautiful music throughout
10 bucks on steam, full longplays (no commentary) on youtube

>babies first edgy VN
