Sony CFO Doesn't Deny Possibility Of PS5 Price Increase

>tl;dr: PlayStations selling poorly and no first-party titles
>they spent $3.6B on bungie, making matters worse
>low chip supplies and bad logistics aren't helping either (some places are overstocked, some out of stock)
Reminder they're making a lot of first-party titles on PC, it's all downhill from here and you'll see shills blaming Game Pass.

>Though there came positive news such as a total of 21.7 million total PS5 units sold, overall, the video games division [...] reported declines year-over-year. Sales overall were down 11.7% and operating income down 30.5%.
>As transcribed by VGC, when CFO Hiroki Totoki was asked if they were considering raising the PS5’s price, they stated that “at this point in time there is nothing specific I can share with you about prices.”
>The previously mentioned declines were mostly attributed to a decrease in sales of first-party and third-party titles, as well as their acquisition of Destiny developer Bungie; Bungie was sold for a reported $3.6 billion USD. Furthermore, Q1 2022 didn’t see the release of any major PlayStation exclusive. Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, both released in the prior fiscal year, in February and March respectively.

>B-But you stupid chud, w-why would t-they raise prices?!
>This refusal to comment is raising more concerns than usual, as it comes off Meta’s recent announcement that they’d be upping the price of their Meta Quest 2 for $100 USD due to rising manufacturing costs

PS died after 2 for me.
PS3 4 and 5 have no games.

>so whatever you're holding onto right there...
>that's your old life... you gotta let that go
>I'm just giving you a chance at... rebirth!

>I just loved that last part.

So not only did they lose major games to microsoft, they will increase their price HAHAHAHAAHHAA

yep

explain this image

I thought companies lower their prices when consumers aren't buying?

>Hey, i need you to publish an article with this title specifically. This will make tons of idiots go out and buy our system in fear that the price will go up

lmao why would anyone buy this shit? it has no games

hurrr durrr they didn't say they weren't doing it so that means they are doing it.

>selling poorly
>sold out everywhere

Fucking pick one. Holy shit. I still can’t buy these anywhere.

They're still selling out instantly, raising it would be smart from a business perspective but it's fucking suicide unless they drop it back down a year later because consumers will be pissed and buy a Series X. If Nintendo is smart they release their next system at a premium price initially, let it be sold out constantly for 2 years, then drop the price or introduce a Lite.

Sony didn't announce the price of the PS5 until Microsoft announced the price of the Series X. Sony has been bleeding money since.

HOW is Bungo worth 3.8b

But people are still buying the PS5. It may not reach the hands of consumers but that is of no concern to Sony as long as they can sell the unit to someone. The main problem is the bill of materials (BOM) and making back the money spent on building each PS5. They were breaking even last year but it's uncertain as to whether that has held true with the continuing chip shortage and price increases for everything.

that's funny because I must have flipped over a hundred of them

>PS1 - Absolute metric fuck tonne of games
>PS2 - Fucking lots of games
>PS3 - Hardly any games
>PS4 - Almost no games
>PS5 - Literally no games
wtf happened???????????????????????

only the digital edition loses money. Most likely if they were raising any prices it would just be putting a 2TB version of the digital edition. They can charge extra for more storage by using Sony official branded ssd. Just like Nintendo raised the price of the Switch to $350 by selling an OLED version.

Every 3rd party developer went multiplat.

cost of making video games rising
retards fixating on muh realismz

Video game developers realized that making exclusives is retarded and they get more money by being multiplat

>fails anyway because the shops cant get enough, not to mention the rampant scalping
