deception was peak -- multiple stances and layered & interactive 3D areas. it's konquest was a blast. 3D midway era gave us some of the best character progression too, even in MK4 Gold when Goro and Kung Lao buried the hatchet for the greater good.

You have good taste.
Shaolin Monks Is still the best
still my favorite
9 is close second
They’re all great games, love the expanded lore and the darker atmosphere. The new fighting system was also a breath of fresh air too.
>running around the map looking for chests and other secrets
That there right there is the shit
Means you have shit taste in games.
The 3D MK games were mostly all shit outside of Deception.
>>running around the map looking for chests and other secrets
you seriously think konquest was just this?
This. Even versus mode is good. I don't understand why they never made Shaolin Monks 2 or even remaster. That game is perfect.

that ending was pure kino it's a shame out it was tossed aside
The 3D games were good in everything except gameplay because a ton of classic special moves were gutted in favor of martial arts and the 3D Space
it went in another direction unlike other franchises which are afraid to ditch the old formula no matter how many iterations of it there are already.
and thank god for that bc deception was kino af.
>Adventure mode
>Puzzle Kombat
>Chess Kombat
I wish they'd do more good shit like this with the newer games
MK4 was great I don't get why people disliked it so much
3D MK was peak single-player fighting
I wish the genre had kept this kind of option for people who enjoy fighting mechanics but don't want to compete
you just know nuMK would make that death so overdrawn with multiple cam angles, xrays and one liners to the point of killing any of its impact. splat indeed
i dont think it had a good arcade debut so fighting community hated it
bump for 3D kino
Came out when arcades were dying in the US, competing with SF3 in the small circle of fighting game players who still were around
