You should play it on reVC to get free camera while driving, fixed aiming on widescreen resolutions and so on.

Don't turn off the frame rate limiter, just like all the 3D trilogy games it's a mess unless running on 30FPS. With unlimited rate the game is full of glitches like the inability to drive in reverse, if you use vsync to cap it to 60 it'll be "playable" but the physics will be subtly different.
