So, is Smashlike a full-fledged genre, now?
Anthony Nelson
Jace Miller
I'm pretty sure plataform figthers exist since the arcade days, there was this one that predated smash but it had a lot of guns.
Smash only refined and made the genre popular.
Juan Long
So are Doom clones like a full-fledged genre now?
Julian Perry
party game
Blake Parker
So are Mario clones a full-fledged genre now?
Chase Martinez
Boomer shooters, actually
Ayden Richardson
And these are called Scotformers
Hudson Martinez
>Smashlike
that's like calling traditional fighters "street fighter clones"
Logan Bennett
yes but don't call it that. call them platform fighters.
Michael Ross
Fightformers would be more appropriate
Jonathan Thomas
Is it? This and brawlhalla are the only popular ones, literally every other one that tried crashed and burned
Levi Gutierrez
>smashlike
way to expose you as a zoomer.
Jack King

Brandon Hernandez
>newfags don't know what a platform fighter is
Hunter Carter

Ryder Miller
They're just a sub-section of fighting games
Jace Thompson
>Is scrimblo the bimblo a fully-fledged genre now?
Mason Thomas
FPS is a main genre
boomer shooter is a subgenre
Dusk is nothing like CoD, which is itself a tactical shooter
Eli Miller
Smash didn't invent platform fighters, dumbass.
Joust did, Outfoxies reinvented it, and Smash ripped off the Outfoxies.
Jaxon Moore
>boomer shooter is a subgenre
sounds more like a retarded tag.
Jonathan Ward
Why didn't they make another one of these for all consoles and PC?
Chase Stewart
It's a shorthand for certain troops / mechanics that are largely absent from more modern FPSes. Getting mad about it as just like getting triggered over roguelikes or metroidvanias.
Which is obviously stupid since genre names aren't some fundamental aspect of reality. They're shorthands to give people a vague idea of what sort of game it is. As long as you know what people are talking about when they use terms like boomer shooters, roguelikes or metroidvanias then that's all there needs to be said about them
