Well I mean it's Dragonball where the only callback to anything regarding how Saiyan's actually were is freiza calling them monkeys. They blew off the 6th universe saiyans having no tails, trunks, goten and bulla having no tails despite being half Saiyan like Gohan (and never mentioning removing unless I missed something) etc. They (idk if Toriyama or anyone else) just decided fuck any of the previous "lore" or what. But that's just dragon ball for you. Just gotta get over it which I probably never will.
