I bought this game in the Steam Summer Sale and thought it was really good. Im not a fan of Half Life 2 at all.

No. It cuts and ruins a ton of thing. It simply is not fun to play.

In general, starting with a "remake" of any sort is never the way to go.

No, it completely destroyed the AI, which is one of the main things of what makes Half Life gunfights fun, and then has worse level design and a fucking abysmal Xen rework which is half the game now.

No. Original has crazy technology and attention to details, better atmosphere and music. Remake is just "better" graphics.
