Is this game worth playing?

The turn base just seems trash to me. I have the game but put it down rather quick. Is this game and other turn base style games worth powering through the clunky gameplay, like will it eventually click and become enjoyable?
I like the old turn base final fantasy 789 and the RTwP baldurs gate/icewind dale games. For some reason this turn base just feels so weird.

Turn-based

Id like a new game to play but I'm leaning to just going back and replaying ff9 or downloading old ff7. Just curious if divinity style games get fun or if I don't like it at the start I never will type of thing.

What made the game clunky is the shield system but I still enjoyed it cause I like strategy style of turn based game. If it's something you don't like then you won't enjoy the experience

Is it something that will get fun tho? I don't want to be a hater.
Same with age of empire vs sids civ.
Age felt better then turn based civ. If I play enough will it click or if it doesn't feel fun at the beginning it never will?
Just wondering if others who didn't like turn based eventually grew to enjoy it.

why don't you try it out? buy it, play it for an hour and if it doesn't click then return it

I have it.
I guess what I'm asking is does DD turn-based gameplay get fun after 8 hours or if I don't like it in the first couple hours I never will?

Its unironically one of the most fun turn based games
Its not like classic fallout or other old turn based crpgs where ypu just click on enemies amd hope your shots dont miss
You actually have tons of options for each fight

>The turn base just seems trash to me
That's because your IQ is room-temp.

If you liked tactical old-school RPGs like Ultima 3-7 you'll like this. At least I did.
Coupla things stood out:
>Le Crapsack World where everyone is an asshole.
>Grind for levels? Haha, fuck you, git good. Also EXP maxxing is highly recommended.
>Tight economy where you have to spend your shekels wisely.
But the exploration and skulking around is simultaneously the most fun and frustrating.

Based on what?

Strange, I like Ultima and absolutely could not stand this game.

i enjoyed it, but then again i liked the combat. it gets more fun as you unlock more cool shit for your characters. but i feel like with any rpg, if you hate the combat it basically ruins the whole game.

i would never force myself to play a game i'm not enjoying in the hopes of eventually liking it

did you get to level 4 and get all the spells?
combat will pretty much stay like that for the whole game

The start of OS2 is slow, but it does improve when you get more diverse abilities like ones that open up movement/positioning options. If you escape Fort Joy and still aren't enjoying the game by the time you get out to explore the rest of the island, you probably won't be won over by the other acts.

I bought the game during the last steam sale. I put quite a few hours into it. I liked it, but I felt like there weren't very many options and a lot of times I accidentally killed some NPCs and had the entire town on me. I actually do like the combat though. Feels good although half the time you'll have fire all over the place while you're trying to fight.

I got passed the first bit with a boat, but thats about it, maybe an additional hour after that idk. Its been awhile since I bought it. I don't know what lvl i stopped at.

Alright man, thanks. Best answer. I want to like it. Just not sure its for me. Maybe I go back and try to progress a bit. There's been a few games I didn't like at first and grew to really enjoy. Just wasn't sure if something like this would be one of those games. Thanks for the input.

Yes, the combat is very fun. It's the deal with pretty much all turn-based games. At first, when playing with a new system, it feels clunky and unappealing. Once you start to understand it, you start to enjoy it. Also the fact that as the game progresses, you unlock more and more abilities. The choices available for the player continue to increase and at the right difficulty, the challenge makes it far surpass other systems. Talking about Turn-based rpgs obviously.

One roastie learns about fans versus attention whores the hard way.
If only the rest of the industry could figure this out.

I loathe Larian and their fanbase immensely.

The combat system is one of the best of the genre. If you disliked it you probably just dislike turn based games.
