He was in the best game

He was the first GTA character who could swim.

it was a different time 90's rap made people like thug black characters today's alt right loser would seethe about CJ if this game came out today

these
and you could customize him

sucks doesnt it
at least we have the memories user

At the time he seemed more well rounded than his predecessors, Claude was a silent protag, Tommy was an onenote ruthless mafioso, CJ could show more range and was comparatively nicer than them, headlines at the time magazines actually noted this out, CJ was a hoodrat gangbanger but he actually didn't want to be ghetto trash forever.

we atleast we can "own" the left because you know that the most important part of our lives

He was a well written nigga from tha hood

CJ was actually a nice person, more interested in drinking a few beers with the homies than actually doing violence. Tommy was a psychopath larping as a mafiaboss, and Claude literally couldn't stop betraying everyone he ever met.

Criminals aren't cool user. Killing people, dealing drugs and collapsing society isn't cool.

He's literally me

kek. how unrealistic and immersion breaking.

Outside of the one case of him drowning a foreman in concrete and shit hes not too bad. His interactions with Woozie alone make him a good lad to hang out with

He was a familyman, if the foreman hadn't disrespected Kendal, he would still be alive. CJ repeatedly accidentallied himself into a business empire.
All of his long term plans, and by the end, all of his operations, are completely legal. Car garage, music producing, casino operating etc. Even before the betrayals and stuff, he still wants to improve his community and end drug consumption.

I think CJ is cool but his personality just creates a dissonance between gameplay and story, Claude and Tommy were a better fit on top of being more charismatic too

How so? His personality was just that he was protective over his family and community. He did things not only to achieve his aims, but to help his friends, while Tommy would dick over anyone just to pretend he was a godfather, and Claude could be approached by a stranger asking him to betray his father figure and he just would.
In terms of ludonarrative dissonance, Trevor Phillips is probably the best protagonist. His only goal is become the greatest drug and weapon trafficker he can be, almost everything else is impulsive, which leads him to do both good and bad things. Every action he commits can be explained with "Because he felt like it". Whereas CJ always acted in a way that would benefit the set homie.

you could make him that fat? kek

>he was protective over his family and community. He did things not only to achieve his aims, but to help his friends
then the player decides to kill thousands of niggers in his own hood but game still portrays CJ as the good guy? Same shit with Niko too.
Trevor (and V story in general) felt like he was written by 20 different retarded writers, otherwise there'd be no reason he would be a cuck for Michael and the feds and give up on the giant submarine profits cause they told them to, i don't think Tommy or Claude would give a fuck at that point and just did what they want.

Those other gangs were bad though. The ballas were drug pushers, and the Vagos were Mexicans, killing them doesn't make CJ bad. And that's the worst thing he canonically does, fight in a war?

It also had effects on the gameplay too.
>skinny CJ was the fastest sprinter capable of outrunning everyone in the Cluckin Bell triathlon. Weakest in melee combat and easily the fastest
>buff CJ was the strongest in melee and is only slightly slower than above in movement speed
>fat CJ was the slowest and just a little bit weaker than his buff version. also has a chance of dying from a heart attack during gameplay
>musclefat CJ was a mix of the above but I never played as that version long enough to notice the difference
Its not an understatement that SA was basically an RPG set in the GTA universe. The amount of things they had attempted to do during that era was unsurpassed and makes looking at GTA IV/V/GTAO sad by comparison.
