Evangelion is overrated and NOT deep.
I fucking hate how many people use evangelion as a representation of mecha genre
frfr
What should they use as a representation of mecha genre?
kenzen robo daimidaler
That one cartoon I watched as a kid where they scream a lot
Fucking Gundam, obviously.
Daigunder
Gunbuster
You've been born too late, son.
Based midara

Armored Core
Gundam
Robotech
Macross
They each have their different styles on mecha, so it's not accurate to say one is more representative of the genre, but these shows/games are certainly more representative than Evangelion
FROMsoft will deliver.
Not easy to do without some design depth or realism at least in kinematics, otherwise it will not feel serious enough.
Mecha requires mechanisms, focus on aesthetics, ideally a scientific base (no matter how outrageous be it TTGL or else), and all these must be tied into game mechanics which must be properly styled or mechs may feel like toys, when, for example that one 3d SRW multiplayer game where attacks felt plastically.
All that requires a lot of work.
And of course, the usual problem of all piloting games, lack of proper cockpit view with buttons and stuff.
Please stop trying to make my sad.
It has been so long since I saw these movies. I can barely remember anything. Is this about right?
>Movie 1
Shinji gets in robot.
>Movie 2
Shinji performs a second calamity.
>Movie 3
Alternate timeline, Asuka has one eye and a hat.
