Judgment Thread

Just finished the first game and loved it, I’m interested in the sequel but a lot of people seem to dislike it
Is the story that bad? Like rubber bullets tier bad?
What about the Kaito Files expansion is it any good?

You should play it and judge (heh) yourself, I honestly didn't know people disliked Lost Judgment until I found Any Forums talking about it

The story is still interesting and it's worth playing. I didn't enjoy the story as much as the first games but I did still enjoy it a lot. Lost Judgment improves upon basically everything else though.

I need to get this and fire up my PS4

first thought was goatse

The combat is a lot better, and stuff like the tailing missions got toned down compared to the first game. I honestly preferred this to the first for the most part.

Same here. I even thought it was significantly better than the original. I've never had THIS much fun with the combat in a yakuza game.

It's suffering the main problem of most JRPGs today: too many cutscenes and walls of text.

No, it's just that they have Yagami constantly bring up a character who you don't really care for over and over to make a point and they constantly try to make you give sympathy to characters despite making them out to be unrepentant assholes. They actually make you sympathize with the antagonist's goal even if it's a pretty heinous thing to do and they actively show you why it's a bad idea paired with why you might sympathize with the idea.

It's not worth more than $10-15. The only new content is a couple of items to find in Kamurocho and that's it. Everything else is recycled from the base game, baseball doesn't even have new courses. It's pretty low budget and it shows, and it constantly feels like a main game condensed into a handful of chapters so you get boss fights with characters who barely had time to be set up. It's definitely better than Majima Saga but that's your bar of reference.

Judge Eyes was a better title, lmao at killing an entire IP though.

I didn't even think Sawa's death was a bad counterpoint. She's an innocent person the antagonist cared deeply for, and he believes his actions cause nothing but justice, despite them being the reason she was murdered.

I hate this box art so much. I’ll buy Judgment when it goes on deep sale or hits PS+.

To be fair, Kuwana's actions didn't really bring in the government heat until Yagami started snooping. So her death is far more on Yagami than Kuwana because at Kuwana's current trajectory she didn't really matter due to her not snooping at Kuwana's underlying plan. She had some idea Kuwana might have been someone bad but nothing more than that.

The combat's better, the side content is better and the story is still one of the better ones as far as Yakuza is concerned.

The game skipped switch so or course it gets doomposted autosaged in nintendogaf

He shouldn't have committed crimes if he wasn't prepared for consequences. It would've only been so long before it started getting investigated by someone else.
Ehara essentially admits involvement to the whole world. I don't think it mattered that the cops on the case and prosecution were too stubborn to care about that; investigative reporters exist and someone would've looked into it.

They wouldn't have gotten as far as Sawa did though, that's sort of the issue. Yagami had far more information about the case from being attacked by Tesso and then going directly into looking into the Goemijul on top of directly going after RK, the police leaving evidence behind, and the three Tokyo U guys who were caught at the scene of the crime and blabbed about their profession that Yagami started putting anything together. Even after all of that he still needed to steal Sawa's yearbook and Kaito's borderline impossible to believe suggestion to consider anything of the sort was happening.

Sawa was constantly way too close to Yagami, was looking too close to Kuwana that she painted a target on herself because of Yagami, and Ehara only spilled any info after Yagami specifically confronted him about a very specific piece of evidence and a major bluff in court.

Eh, in my opinion other investigators still could've endangered someone while looking into this.
Also, I think blaming Yagami for Sawa's death is like blaming Sawa for Kuwana becoming a serial killer. She's the reason he recorded the video, but it's still directly on Kuwana for using it as blackmail and creating a team to help him murder people.

i loved both games, lj polishes everything and has more shit to do (btw robotics club fucking sucked)

i loved kaito files too

Wy did you guys think of the final fight?

I wish they had made it harder. I always try to no item bosses while doing my first playthrough on hard to make it more exciting, and J's final boss felt fulfilling to beat after a string of failed attempts, but LJ's, as well as all the other boss fight in the game, were really easy.
It's incredibly fun to play as super overpowered yagami, but they should've buffed the opponent's more.
