I tried playing a bit of the first game and I got all the way up to Ziggy's sneaking mission. Does the game get any better after this?

The story, while interesting, is proceeding at a glacial pace and the cutscenes remind me of playing Metal Gear Solid 4. The battle system also feels...off. I can't quite put my finger on it.

3 was god-tier, 1 was good, 2 was absurdly shit

the game system is pretty shit. The final boss is one of the hardest i have ever fought. The story never stops being interesting, peak of story is Junior's arc in 3, then it all goes to shit with melodrama.

The most boring slog in XS1 is cathedral ship

It's funny, I'm actually getting ready to replay XS1 so I can play the other two parts. When I first tried to play this game years ago, I found myself being really bitchy towards Shion. Now that I'm older, I kinda gotta respect her. She did build herself a robot girlfriend after all. I dare say based.

i dunno. if 2 had kept shion's perspective, same VAs, and a less "realistic" look, i would say it's outright better than XS1. as it stands, I think 2 is sort of on the same level as 1.
3 is amazing, though. a shame a million units wasn't enough to convince BAMCO this shit was worth investing time into, but then again, Takahashi was still up t his old tricks of too much ambition. no wonder they pulled the plug early when they realized it wouldn't be the next pokemon
