What was the idea behind changing the combat?

It doesn't feel anything like I remember the previous entries. Why the RPG mechanics? Why can't I just kill anyone if I'm good enough at the game? Why the stupid loot and equipment system? Do people actually think this is better than every other AC entry??

It has potential but is completely ruined by Ubisoft open world autism

The gaming industry is trying to stop game addiction and with games like this it's working

>buh buh buh y my bideo game dibberent?!

the series was already suffering genre drift and producing shit after shit.

I think this game was misunderstood. This game went in the right direction but because of the buggy launch Ubisoft just assumed the whole game was bad and that no one liked.

We need this type of gameplay back.

This series was ALWAYS shit

No we don't.
Fuck open world it's a waste of time.
I want a story with big events real dungeons/temple's real characters with good story.

the idea was
>boy people sure seemed to like Witcher 3

So you get nudity?
Good writing?

I dont understand why doesnt ubisoft just make skyrim instead of beating a dead horse with ass creed ip

you'd think, but Ubisoft are in fact incompetent

The simple answer is that they wanted the combat and systems to be as generic as possible so that it'd work in any setting

Valhalla feels like a weird in between of Unity and Origins/Odyssey
They got rid of the Diablo 2 loot system and went back to baseline equipment that you use resources to upgrade to a finite level like in Unity, and the bloated skill tree further enhances stats.

At least the hidden blade is a OHKO again like it should have fucking stayed from the start.

You get what Ubisoft thinks resembles The Witcher 3

i dont know why you're focusing on the open world when all of them have that, hes clearly talking about the traversal and combat which is bar none the best in the series

>and combat which is bar none the best in the series
>constant gun spam
>only game that removed the ability to dodge by using human shields
Wow great combat

The idea was "oh shit people like Souls and Witcher 3 won GOTY"

Because I hate it

literally so they could sell you better weapons for real money

>No endless 1shot spam that trivializes entire game
>actual stealth
yes, the best in the series. human shields would be cool though yeah

being able to monetize the rpg combat system with micro transactions to speed up the acquisition of power.

>combat which is the best in the series
Lol what? Have you played this game at all? I recently finished a playthrough and the combat is by far the worst part of it. Most of the upgrades are completely unnecessary, fighting is piss easy the only thing you need to do is press X when they attack and you'll never die. Bombs were cool but mostly unnecessary except the smoke one. Guns were alright but it's pretty stupid for a stealth assasin game to allow you to shoot a musket and guys 20m away don't hear anything.
