It's not about when they came out, just that 7th gen was the death of videogames.
Military shooters, DLCs, microtransactions, it all started with the 7th gen.
The 8th and 9th are just extensions of it.

I am cautiously optimistic. TC learned a lot during 5s lifespan and the end result was a very fun game as far as the PvE is concerned. just a shame that they fucked up the beginning so badly it became vaporware and majority of people didn't give a shit about it from that point on

Except it didn't? New spawns were rushed and certain behavior were never fixed. PGs ocassionally run through bleed and stun just fine to put a saw into your face.
Audio on certain maps is completely gone for a number of enemies and bosses ( the one with the blue mist is an extreme case of this).

Fahz/Marksman is completely broken to the point where you either are an absolute shitter that couldn't hit a barn with a nuke or you ruin everyone elses fun by dominating every wave.

Oh, the cherry on top of was removing Custom Hives altogether because keeping a single rusty old server somewhere running was too fucking expensive for TC.

Ghostmelee popping up shortly after TC nerfed the lungrange for PVP at launch and then never fixing it in over 2 years for PVE making melee classes very frustrating to play.

1. who the fuck is playing shooting games for the story? the gameplay loop of shooting games is dogshit and boring 99% of the time and the only way to avoid this is to have genuinely interesting mechanics introduced with each new level and/or a REALLY fucking good co-op experience. If you are playing Gears for its retarded story of "oh shit, the Locust have emerged AGAIN for the 32423859432345th time(but with a secret weapon!!!) and we gotta send in this one-man army squad to do pest control" I dont know what to tell you.

2. the Multiplayer will be same as it ever was. the Gears gameplay design has "peaked" more or less and theres not much room to move around from here. Gnasher fights is the Bread and Butter but I guess you can look forward to a handful of new weapons or maybe a new grenade type. Of Course Delta Squad will be making a reappearance as MP skins. they ALWAYS do and people would throw a massive shitfit if they didnt for whatever reason so I mean..

so I mean yeah. just looking at it CRITICALLY its just going to be Gears 5. 2.0 with a reloaded player count for the first few months. dont expect anything crazy or era defining. At this point the game is ripe for just doing what Halo has done and just making a "Gear's Infinite" because lord KNOWS the gameplay for this series is 100% done evolving.
