Final Fantasy 13 still the worst?

It's been 13 years.
Looking back, is Final Fantasy 13 still viewed as horrible?
Is it still the worst Final Fantasy?
Has the viewpoint changed after FF15 came out or the upcoming release of FF16?

I remember FF 13 getting good reviews upon release but shortly after everyone jumped on the hate bandwagon.
Seemed like most of the hate came during 13-2 and Lightning Returns.
I wonder how it would have been if none of the sequels were released and 13 remained a standalone game.

Yes

>Is it still the worst Final Fantasy?
Yes

>Has the viewpoint changed after FF15 came out or the upcoming release of FF16?
No

>I remember FF 13 getting good reviews upon release but shortly after everyone jumped on the hate bandwagon.
Game journalists have never been reliable

>Seemed like most of the hate came during 13-2 and Lightning Returns.
You remember wrong

It's better than 7R

FF13 was okay, FF13-2 was worse, and FF13-LR is the worst FF game by far.

>Most of the hate came during 13-2 and LR
This is some next level revisionist bullshit.

The game's biggest flaw was it was a slave to the story. Characters can't use magic until the story deems it so, character can't level up past a certain point until the story says they're strong enough to. But taking that away, it's still a very good game. The battle system is probably the best version of the ATB we're going to get, and most likely its final evolution as the series has transitioned to a more action style combat. The characters are all human and complex, each with their own flaws and growth. The lore itself is probably the best in the series, and the bad guys motivations are solid and makes for interesting philosophical implications. The narrative itself is a paradox in storytelling, with the characters being the main device driving the narrative. A lot of the themes go over people's heads, but if you can dig past that, you'll find it's a very good game, very easily being in the top half of FF games.

no 13-2 is actually really fun and they refined the battle system in LR. Plus LR had amazing side quests with a lot of voiced npcs. My only con is that they used shitty kid Hope instead of adult Hope

FFXV is the worst by far, but it sold a lot and has a dedicated fanbase of shiteaters.

based take.

i played the game day one. i was absolutely floored by the graphics and the presentation. i remember the game favourably.

XI and XIV are far worse.

Why does 13-2 and Lightning Returns look worse graphically than 13?

Give Lightning a good game right now.

15, for all its flaws, is far and away a better game and experience than 13.

Yes but 13-2 and LR were good, albeit flawed, games.

Especially LR, that game had a fairly unique feel to it. Soundtrack is underrated too.

More open areas mean less pretty areas.

I guess it makes sense.
The 360 and PS3 were severely limited by RAM.

It's one of the few games where I can unironically say that the only character that I somewhat liked was a nigger

He reminds me of Eddie Murphy with the behavior.

Shittiest FF ever, don't even try the revisionist bullshit everyone hated it and it didn't even have the PS exclusive factor to save it, so snoys didn't even need to pretend to like it.
FF15 is shit but not as shit.

Final Fantasy X is worse. At least 13's linearity was supported by fun gameplay

What about story?

FF15 is noticeably worse than 13.
