GTX 1060 bros, your time is coming
>dude upgrade to the most expensive tier of gaming.
Fuck off hardware shill.
Not upgrading my 1660 until a good Nvidia GPU is $250.
No I'll use 1650
good thing i just play old games
Who said you had to upgrade to top of the line?
Dumb fucking retard. You're about as stupid as the consoomers if you think you must have the most expensive.
Get a cheap 20 series.
I picked up a 2080Ti for about £400 when people were mass selling them for the new 30 series. Best decision I ever made.
Gaming laptop Chads ww@?
Ryzen R7 3750H, GTX 1650, 24GB RAM and a 256GB SSD can play all the kino I want on medium and anything made pre 2017 on Ultra
>Still 50% of all Steam userbase
Oh no
Why are GPUs the only electronics that doesn't get noticeably cheaper for the same performance?
Don't care, all the games I'm interested in will work just fine on my 1060
>gtx 980
should i upgrade to a 3060ti or continue waiting
>GTX 1080
Not my problem
Neither nVidia and AMD were really making money on selling GPUs directly to consumers, it was a vanity thing for them to increase their brand presence. The money is in bulk corporate deals.
But now mining and PC gaming has become popular so they cannot just treat it as "vanity tech demos that make a tiny bit of money", so they can't sell them as cheap as they were originally.
This is the reason why GPU prices are never going down.
t. I own a lot of shares of Nvidia.
I would accept maybe 30-50% price hike. But I will never pay 200-300% more, I dont care, its not an organic price.
wait until the 40XX drops.
conspiracy theory: nvidia&amd make devs not optimise their shit so they can sell more expensive cards to brute force shitty games
have yet to run into any games i can't play with a 1050
it's true so your conspiracy theory is validated
Mining and TSMC domination of silicon
It used to be like a 30% price to performance increase every generation. Now an RX 470 from 6 years ago that launched at $175 is better than any new option under $200
i dunno about that, but devs have definitely gotten worse at optimising their games because there is more breathing room
Valheim is a good example
recommended specs:
>Processor: i5 3GHz or Ryzen 5 3GHz
>Memory: 16 GB RAM
>Graphics: GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580
Runs like trash and gets exponentially worse the bigger your base is (active instances) because it shits the bed when there's too many "objects" in the players vicinity
Another example: Nightmare Reaper
recommended specs:
>Processor: i7 or equivalent
>Memory: 4 GB RAM
>Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070
>Storage: 4 GB available space (baseddev explicitly recommends an SSD)
A primitive 2D sprite game with some extreme FPS draining lighting effects needs a fucking 1070!! pic related. All these games have RECOMMENDED specs cannot run these games at a stable and reliable framerate. We live in a clown world.
