How do I cure gaming burnout?

How do I cure gaming burnout?

Recently lost my job. In between filling out job applications on Indeed and attempting new recipes for food dishes, I am basically just gaming and web browsing while at home. Despite having access to almost 500+ games across various consoles and generations (surprisingly the majority are not emulated), I can't really seem to find that desire to game for an extended period of time. Any longer than an hour and I get bored to the point where no game can seem to get me interested anymore.

Do any anons have tips to avoid burnout?

Cannabis helps but probably not while job hunting

I'm sorry you lost your job, user. You'll get back up and get another.

Find a new hobby, try to learn a new language, learn to draw or coding. You'll never cure your gaming burnout if you dont do something else and make Gaming a casual hobby.

You need something new and challenging. Try a genre you're not used to. Find a game that punishes you to the point that you get angry and swear you'll never play it again, only to have the itch and come back pretending like it never happened. Tactical squad games with permadeath are great for this.

Trash advice, you cant cure gaming burnout forcing yourself to play games.

You need to do drugs, it will completely cure your burnout and make games really fun again.

literally pick a game, doesnt matter what it is, and just start playing it

Based cook, bro.

I like to 3D model stuff for video games. I get a kick out of imagining the world the item I'm making exists in. Even if it's as boring has a barrel, giving it a world to exist gives me a spark to create more and play games for more inspiration. Recently I played an awesome old game called Irongrip Warlord, so I'm thinking of things to model based around that world.

Anyway, got any easy cooking recipes that don't break the bank?

Lol @people advising the dude to try to bruteforce through a burnout.

oh okay then he shouldn't play any games ever again thread over thank you for your service galaxy brain

Do something you don't want to do for extended periods of time, and you'll find doing anything else more appealing.
Don't force yourself to play if you don't feel like it. No sense in eating when you're not hungry, do something else.

you're not burnt out, you're depressed. the shellshock of losing your job and the limbo phase where you may or may not get another one, has yourself feeling like everything is pointless...

>you cant cure gaming burnout forcing yourself to play games.
Bro you’re friends that play multiplayer every weekend?

No, you should try something new and challenging in your life, You'll recover from that burnout with time. Just like artists take a break when they're going through a burnout and do something else. Forcing yourself to enjoy something is the worst thing you can do.

>has yourself feeling like everything is pointless
Well that's because it's true, even if you get a great job you are still going to end up just as dead as everyone else.

It actually did help by making me numb to the monotonous feeling. Sadly I can't smoke cause of the job hunt and I can't smoke in my apartment building so it makes this hard to achieve now.
Good input. Will spend the next few days while on the web exploring options for this.
Tried this with Bloodborne (my first souls-like game). Kept dying. Cue excess frustration.
Thank you user. I know I won't be out of work for long cause of my work history, but the timing kind of sucks what with it being near the end of summer. Perfect time to take a vacation and do something to break monotony, and I spend it job hunting.

Do non video game shit.
Start growing some kind of plant. I personally started with potatoes because they are easy and dont take up much space.

How about you play good games and workout when you're bored?
Since you've been playing more vidya, your tastes are being refined and your skills are being honed to vidya that could be better spent elsewhere. Soon you'll start taking estrogen pills and speedrunning your favorite titles in no time.

The point is, stop playing too much vidya at once. Burnout fucking blows. Just stick with one game at a time and just play it when you get that itch. Play other games only if your friends want to play with you.
But really, you should still workout bro. Don't want to catch you slacking.

You shouldn't be playing games while looking for work. They will make you lazy.

If an application requires me to write a cover letter, I just don't apply for it. Why the fuck are these things part of the process? Surely everyone who both writes and reads it knows its bullshit

>cue excess frustration
No wonder you're bored with video games, you can't stand being challenged to rethink what you're doing in order to win. Find something else to do like the others are saying.

I think i also have burnout, i take more time than other people to finish a game but here is the thing, i can't sit down and play a bad game, 10 minutes and i quit it right off, it will have to be a really good game to hold my attention, i used to play and finish bad games with no problem whatsoever, i think i will quit gaming a week or two before i comeback, probably start watching, exercising and maybe start a new thing like learning a new language or work in a project i had on my mind for a while.

Meds.

Try alcohol or weed.

Simple. Take a break from games. One to two weeks and then you'll feel much better when you come back to your addiction.

Well I'm just trying it out now, so nothing really yet desu. I'd leave the cooking to my girlfriend because my idea of cooking is burning meat and making weird sauces for them. Only recently tried it to spice up my life. Still excited to refine my technique but it's clear I have a long ways to go.
Agreed. I'm trying to switch away from my usual genres but it still isn't helping me keep interest.
Right? Especially those workplace tests they give you.
