That's not definitive.
Modern Sonic gets tons more Jap fan art, Japs hyped up and bought Forces over Mania, Japs buy Modern merch at a greater rate than Classic merch. The reverse is true of the West, where we tend to favor Classic Sonic. Look it up if you don't believe me.
