What were they thinking?
What were they thinking?
Piece of shit
God I love this game, I should play it again
Better than 64
they were thinking "lets make a mario game that has a ton of problems but is still the best becuase it has the most soul"
"Let's make a fun game"
Let's make the greatest Mario game.
They were thinking of making the best 3D Mario game.
Based
Movement and by extension level/episode design weren't great but that's offset by having so much pure, concentrated SOUL
During the N64 era Nintendo made an expansion for the N64 called the 64DD. They were planning to make a lot of games for the DD, including a sequel to Mario 64, but they were all canceled because it bombed.
The DD fucked all Nintendo's plans up and likely forced Nintendo to rush out the gamecube before it was ready, with few games. Similarly, Mario Sunshine was probably rushed in order to have a big game for it.
Sunshine has better, more fluid movement than 64, people just fixate on the FLUDD. There's a reason everyone loved the obstacle levels that took your pack away.
"What if we took Mario 64, but made it more boring by making all of the level themes the same. And add a gimmick movement system for good measure."
Sunshine's movement is indeed more fluid but that doesn't necessarily mean better. It makes precise platforming much more difficult and punishing, because you have very little room to adjust yourself.
>a fucking mario game
>has one of the best atmospheres in gaming history
If you didn't play this game during the summer you missed out.
Even in Nintendo's shittiest games they still usually nail the atmosphere. Skyward Sword comes to mind.
This, it nails the atmosphere, except it's also one of Nintendo's best games.
Those obstacle levels are a fucking nightmare on the switch version, it doesn't read my inputs half the timr
It's one of the best games I've ever played. You must suck if it filtered you.
Not a big Mario fan but I enjoyed Sunshine and Odyssey. Old boomers can piss and shit and fart all they want I don't care. They'll all be dead soon anyway lol
lets make an unfun Mario game
I enjoyed Sunshine too, but the game falls off really hard after the first 10 hours or so. The way I always end up playing it is I just kind of drop it after that point and then play through the first 10 hours or so again 6-12 months later. What's good in Mario Sunshine is really good but there's a lot of crap too.
mario for the 200IQ crowd
