I've played games since 2002 with that movement system. It sucked then and it sucks now. There's games out there with WASD movement and the same isometric perspective, and it was far more engaging to play and move around.

pudge was gigashit for a long time, no professional player was putting their match on the line over pudge coinflipping hooks when you could just pick a hero like batrider (who was actually allowed to buy blink dagger at the time) and picked someone off more reliably.
