I never played it because it had ads on tv and looked like a scam

You missed out. Well you can still play it but playing it as a kid hits different.

I'd rather be homeless thank you

Isn't this game dead? I only reached so far to Mooshu when I was younger and never further.

Same with Pirate101, isn't that also dead? I heard devs quickly rushed the ending because CEO or whoever hated Pirate101.

No it's still alive. About mid to high population compared to most MMOs. Mooshu was one of my favorite zones but hated how enemies can drag you into combat from far away because the sidewalks in that zone weren't safe.

It still regularly gets updates. My brother was telling me about how its apparently getting an entire guild system (including like a proper shared guild base/castle) sometime soon.

I really love the combat of the game at high level worlds, where it starts adding all sorts of unique mechanics named "cheats", but my only problem is its really boring to get to that point and you'll pretty much be soloing everything apart from a handful of dungeons and bosses nowadays.

Also Cool Ranch was WAY too fucking long, probably because when the game released, that was meant to be the final world at the time.
I also apparently had my old account banned and idk why.

>It still regularly gets updates
Have all the old worlds been updated so it doesn't look like a game from 2008?

Pirate101 genuinely sucks though. Combat feels retarded and it just feels boring.
Damn I haven't played the game in a few years pretty cool to see they're finally adding a guild system. I looked up some more on the game and they're also adding 12-man raids. Kinda wanna get back on as I still remember my account info and I had like a level 60 storm wizard with some nice player homes and mounts.

Oh god no, they updated part of Wizard City and then as soon as you get to Krokotopia everything looks ancient until they started using smoother textures at like Avalon. I get they want their F2P to be the most presentable part, but it's actually pretty abysmal considering the game then throws you into that old graphical style right after that.

I never played past the free trial
does this have private servers

I actually don't mind the old graphics. Also I have a love/hate relationship with Krokotopia. I liked the Egyptian setting and how you traverse through a pyramid and tombs but fucking hated some of the dungeons.
There was supposedly a private server in the works but the news on that is dead in the water.

I don't personally mind them either, but nostalgia is a hard sell to anyone who doesn't have former experience in the world of MMOs. Comparatively to how they do quests/worlds now, it's quite different compared to the "kill 10 of this enemy, then pick up 3 items on the map then kill the boss"

Favorite to least favorite worlds. From the ones I played:
Mooshu > Grizzleheim/Wintertusk > Dragonspyre > Celestia > Krokotopia > Marleybone

What's different about the quests? I do remember the annoying drop rates for items when you needed to kill enemies and collect something from them.

Honestly, they just have a lot more well thought out fights/bosses as opposed to just exclusively being groups of enemies on a street or a boss with slightly more HP. They went for a lot less quests per world in favor of that too, so they don't drag on as long. Those original style quests still exist, just they're not the only thing.

If I started a general for this on /vg/ would anons be up to playing it? It's free to a certain point then it's like $10 a month, sometimes there's deals for $5 a month.

I like playing the game, but I don't think you'd ever get any traction over on /vg/ for it, at least not without like 3 people posting all day. This game kind of always dies on Any Forums, everybody usually just remembers it as a nostalgic kid game

True but you never know. Maplestory and Ragnarok Online have pretty active generals. Then again the entirety of those games are free.
