I've been playing a lot of DAoC lately. Great game. Atlas server is still in a rocky place but massive RvR battles the last few nights have been really fun.

For me it's a feeling of comfort. Since you naturally associate a city with lots of people it makes you feel like you aren't alone on whatever video game level or area has that background. Also it's just aesthetically pleasing to look at.
