Cel shading looks ugly as sin in all instances and anyones saying any different is coping.

If you're literally a one man indie dev then you're allowed to use cel-shading without being criticized

If you don't use sRGB textures/framebuffers, you are doing it wrong.

Nothing relevant. All renderers (game engine and offline) render in linear space. Before PBR rendering, color space conversion used to be a real headache. Now it's done automatically.
