too soon

Well, what happened retard

SFxTekken
Nicktoons ASBrawl
Marvel VS Capcom Infinite

No more custom content

NYPG they added easy anti-cheat to keep people from copying avatars that retards commissioned.

P*rnhub purging all its content

weren't all three of them dead in the water at launch? not the same thing as a successful game deciding "okay lets destroy all appeal and goodwill in one update"

devs are adding easy anti cheat, meaning no more custom content

they lost about 5k concurrent players, but going from 30-35k to 25-30k is nothing close to a deathblow and is more of a set-back.
how other games can capitalize is far more of a factor in the future.

It means people using hacked clients got fucked. If you're making custom avatars and maps this doesn't effect that.
The reason why this is a big deal is that a metric fuckton of people used hacked clients because they added features that the main devs are too lazy/inept to add. Imagine if Notch just up and said "fuck you, wait until WE add shit to the game" when Minecraft was still new.

The games population didn't even have a dent put in it.

of course there's going to be custom content, their entire business model is getting people to do work for them

that's most of it, but not all of it, the other part is trying to sell their subscription for favorited avatar slots
when people can just pull them out of a search list at-will then it cuts into them trying to monetize inconvenience

most people don't have a reason to be mad about this, other than the part where anti-cheat hurts people that weren't cheating the most, chinese rootkits would never be welcome on your computer for the sake of an "entertainment" product
the people that have the reason to be mad are all the hyperdegenerate furries that bought internet-masturbation hardware that needs to hook in to third party scripts vrchat scripts where they can then be jacked off remotely
at least them being mad makes sense for the few thousand dollars in the hole they are for that shit

Do franchises count? If so, Rollercoaster Tycoon went from a fantastic trilogy to some of the worst games made in the 2010s.

>Imagine if Notch just up and said "fuck you, wait until WE add shit to the game" when Minecraft was still new.
Excellent analogy.

The people that were playing VRChat.

Tribes Vengeance

Oh yeah, the tragic story of Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Great first game, excellent sequel and followed by a third entry by a different developer but still very good. Then, nothing but mobile crap and the abomination known as Roller Coaster Tycoon World until the developer behind Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 wins a legal battle against Atari and starts their own series: Planet Coaster.
Also, a remake that's worse than OpenRCT2.
