I will agree that Act 2 had a strong start. It quickly devolving into rehashed travelling/dungeons hurt it big time. The new content it had was a mixed bag. Most people will act like you didn't finish the game if you skipped Act 3. I wouldn't know though, because by the time the credits rolled I was extremely done with this DQ.

I cannot beat the Tentacular boss fight. It gets 3 attacks and they hit my entire party and knock them down half the time. Who is responsible for this.

Just brute force it and shit out damage, worked for me after 20 tries.
I got to the ice town and dropped the game but if you got past the spider thing during the tournament you can beat the Squid.

It's a gimmick fight, you're supposed to talk to the canon lady on the cliff in Lonalulu. She fires her canon at it and the Tentacular is stunned for like 5 rounds in a row when you start the fight.
