In hindsight, why did they think that no voice acting was a good idea?

They were just trying to shit something out to capitalize on Smash Ultimate's content cycle coming to an end, they weren't expecting WB to show up and fuck them in the ass just a couple of months later.

>he thinks the developers wanted to make the game worse
do you not understand anything about game development or are you just retarded

Because NASB was pandering to melee faggots who think the game isn't being carried by featuring characters people know and love, a considerable portion of which is voicework.

Also this.

They had a budget and they spent thousands to host tournaments.

The game got voice acting in June and it's arguably better than multiversus in some ways. There were multiple contractual issues with getting the voices in the game that went beyond the character likenesses.

Multiversus voice acting is obviously more interesting since they recorded a bunch of dialogue with characters referencing each other, but a lot of the regular lines get repetitive quickly.

Also multiversus is free whereas all star brawl is not. If it cost money to play it wouldn't have nearly as many players.

The comparison chart is kind of hilarious.

How did nick manage to live for that long? They probably have nothing going for them aside from (((modern))) spongebob. While warner is a corporate powerhouse

>arguably better than multiversus in some ways
Nah, it's an unpolished mess not worth playing.
It was dead on arrival, only rosterfags gave a shit about it for a week when the game was announced.

Honestly I find Multiversus to be way better gameplay-wise

>why did they think that no voice acting was a good idea?
The VAs would have been more expensive than everything they would have earned.

The devs are smelee autists, they don't care about sound design, art direction, animation quality or all those little things non-autists really like for no apparent reason. All they care about is hitboxes, frame data, wavedashing, and knockback.
I bet 99% of the dev cycle was something like
>omg April needs a front facing delayed hitbox on frame 3 to counteract scrimblo's F tilt
>Ok have pull a blimp out of her ass idc.

melee is honestly shit and very shallow compaired to ultimate and I'm tired of pretending it's not. Melee fags are honestly the god damn worst and NASB does a great job showing how awful it is.

At one point nick was the number 1 cartoon network that CN had to anti-shill on nick network.

SpongeBob was so successful that they got lazy and canceled every show that don't achieve SpongeBob numbers. Nick even rejected Ed edd and eddy and Adventure time because they didn't believe in it potential

first off
>comparing launch numbers to game that came out 2+ years go.
But even still NASB was going to fail reguardless. People do not like or care for melee or being competitive which NASB set out to be. However and 99% of the reason why NASB failed is because no one gives a shit about Nickelodian. Only North America ever really got Nick as a station and even still most of their shows barely made it to international audiences. Anything other than Spongebob hasn't been culturally relevant since the 90s. SSB on the other hand is literally nothing but giant ass video game characters that still get games made regulary that are good and come out globaly. What makes smash fun is the mash up of characters people know fighting each other. No one knows Nick characters, people defincatly know WB characters and their general properties though so that at least has a bit more staying power than Nick.

GaMEplAy wIlL CaRRy iT!
What they didn't know is that the gameplay was shit too.

>arguably better than multiversus
How every character play the same and special are borderline useless.

Because Nickelodeon is chintzy and lazy and would rather coast off of Deadbob Horsepants' success than ever invest significant funds into anything new.

Nickelodeon has been carried entirely by Spongebob for over a decade now.

Melee is dead. The only people who play it are ultra competitive. SSBU at least has some amount of new mechanics and emerging metagame to stay interesting. Melee has the biggest upset of "someone picked a B tier character!!!!!"

nasb came out 9 months ago
